Helping Professionals&business owners dominate their space through their voice
Holding space in communication means creating a safe, respectful environment where someone feels seen, heard and understood without interruption and judgment.
If you dominate a conversation without giving room for the other person to be heard it means you are not a good communicator, communication should be balanced between both parties.
When you hold space, you focus less on your response and more on their experience. You validate their feelings, even if you don’t fully agree and you communicate care through your tone, body language and patience. In a world where everyone wants to be heard, holding space is a powerful way to build trust, deepen connections and foster meaningful conversations.

PART 1
First, it helps to understand that “mother tongue interference” isn’t a weakness, it simply means your first language is influencing how you speak English or any second language. The goal is not to erase your identity but to improve clarity and confidence.
Here’s how you can work on it effectively:
1. Increase Your Listening Exposure
Surround yourself with correct pronunciation daily news broadcasts, movies, podcasts, documentaries, interviews etc Pay attention to how words are pronounced, not just what is being said. Try listening to professional broadcasters and mimic them.
2. Practice Shadowing
Pick a short audio clip and repeat it immediately after the speaker, copy the tone, rhythm and pronunciation. This trains your mouth and ears together and gradually reduces your natural accent influence.
3. Record and Review Yourself
Record your voice while reading or speaking. Then compare it with a standard version. You’ll begin to notice specific sounds your mother tongue is affecting (like “th,” “v,” “r,” etc.).
4. Focus on Problem Sounds
Every language has sounds it struggles with. Identify yours and practice them deliberately. For example: • “Think” vs “Tink” • “Very” vs “Wery”
Train your mouth muscles, Yes you heard right, it’s physical practice.
5. Slow Down Your Speech
Mother tongue influence becomes stronger when you speak fast. Slowing down helps you think, pronounce clearly and reduce automatic patterns from your first language.

Framing your idea before you speak is one of the most powerful habits of effective communication. It is the difference between sounding scattered and sounding strategic.
When you speak without framing your idea, your message can come out unclear, too long or easily misunderstood but when you take a moment to structure your thoughts, your voice carries clarity, confidence and authority. People don’t just hear you they understand you.

Overusing Filler Words
1) Umm,” “ah,” “you know,” and “like” weaken professionalism and seems like you’re not prepared.
Do this :Replace fillers with confident pauses.
2) Talking Through the Nose (Nasal Tone)
An overly nasal voice can sound unpleasant.
Do this : Work on opening your mouth space and proper resonance.
3) Poor Articulation
Mumbling or swallowing words reduces clarity.
Do this : Do daily diction drills and tongue twisters. Eg: How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood.
4) Ignoring Vocal Warm-Ups
Jumping straight into speaking can cause vocal strain.
Do this : Always warm up with humming, wacko, lip trills and gentle scales.
5) Inconsistent Volume
Voice going up and down randomly confuses listeners/audience.
Do this: Maintain steady projection and use emphasis intentionally
