One year since I turned a bunch of big corners and I’m back at it this Friday too! Got a note from my mom recently, who’s also my May 8th “twin”, about the need she’s feeling to try new things and experiment in her life AT 83 YEARS OLD, and I’m just so grateful to feel so supported as I do the same. She was talking about making new recipes lol, but for me it’s been about a total reinvention of my methods and madness, teaming up with people I love to make new art, and going deeper with new and old friends than I ever have (and this Taurus / Scorpio / Scorpio only knows deep in the first place!). I wrap up this year and start a new one on Friday and I would love to get wrapped up in a group hug with everyone I know that happens to be in New Orleans right now. The rest of y’all, I’m coming for ya sometime soon! Ok, the bulls are parading! No Chore Boys hugs this weekend so we can save our energy for the weekend after, but I’m doing a solo set at the Return of Azzfest! For those who remember, this annual face-melting, ass-throwing night out at the end of the second Jazzfest weekend took a little hiatus….but it’s back! Springtime in New Orleans has been unrealistically beautiful. Everyone has been smiling from ear to ear and bringing so much good energy to the streets and the clubs. Maybe this time it’ll last forever! 😂 of course it won’t! But in the moment we’re soaking it up and using it to put fuel on the fire for a summer that promises all the usual challenges and a world that needs us to be as level headed as possible. It’s been a wild and wooly week over here. Electric Springs bubbling in the forest, Indians marching in the streets, Peaches shouting from the afters, and old friends popping up among the new fresh faces I’m so lucky to still be meeting as time drags me to wherever I’m being taken. I’m never truly bored and thank you New Orleans for ensuring it year after year. This week, between scratching our heads and smashing our reason against the rock of impenetrable global chaos, I hope you find time for hugs and soft reclinings with people you adore, that new friends surface among the old and that your family and families are safe and struggle-free. @choreboys.party will be doing our little chores (DJ’ing songs we’d love for you to dance to) over at @poorboysbar this Friday with @toki.doki.hoe .
