For the 2nd week in a Row I shot up to Barona to call the action.
The Barona Drag Strip went from BITCHIN Traditional Hot Rods Last weekend to Some REALLY GOOD Air Cooled VW’s Taking over the Property on Sunday.
We were able to Run All 4 Classes out even with the late start. Pro-Eliminator, Sportsmen, Women’s and a Definite Crowd Favorite- @vw_realstreet_racing_series .
Just a few pics here of a day that started out questionable but ended Strong with some Killer VW’s that were straight up RIPPERS!

@rpm_nationals RPM Barona Drags and @antique_nationals will be at the Barona Drag Strip April 18th and 19th 2026 Racing on a FRESHLY PAVED Drag Strip. I checked it out yesterday in person and IT IS AWESOME! (Last Image)
The only thing that may be cooler is the Return Road Drive back to the Pits after taking a Rip down Strip, as seen in the pics here. (A couple I stole from the internet and a couple I took from last year and Yesterday)

It’s been just about 10 years since I called the action at the inaugural RPM Nationals on an airstrip in the Middle of a 14,000 acre cattle ranch on the central California Coast, under an easy up and a folding chair.
We took the RPM Race to an NHRA Sanctioned track in San Diego at the request our friends that had OHV Powered Hot Rods. The Barona Staff asked us if we wanted them to provide an announcer for our race. Justin and I both agreed we could save the money and handle it.
After the 1st RPM Barona Drags the Track Director asked if I would be interested in coming back to do a few races for them.👀
Long Story Short, this has turned into something really cool, landing me at Barona as a regular, a number of Races for @matchracemadness_ , @streetlegaldragway , @antique_nationals , @superchevysunday , @vw_realstreet_racing_series No Prep Syndicate, The Final Showdown at Irwindale, Famoso March Meet 2025 and where it all Started, @santa.margarita.ranch for the RPM Nationals.❤️
Tomorrow kicks off @racebarona Season Opener for Summit Series #1 on a freshly paved track!
