Happy 100th Birthday to Sir David Attenborough, a massive inspiration to so many. Thank you Sir David for your incredible dedication to the natural world and for raising attention to everything that matters. I wrote Orbis for Earth Day as a hymn to our ailing planet.

Lovely musical day yesterday with a lunchtime recital - Bach-Busoni, Beethoven and Rachmaninov Preludes, and in the evening a rehearsal of Beethoven 3rd Piano Concerto and Litolff's Scherzo with the Newton Abbot Symphony, Rob Young conducting. Sunday 10th May 3pm performance at the Courtenay Centre.
NEXT CONCERT: 15 May | 7.30pm
Join us to welcome @rupertesmith to perform a thrilling journey through the pianoās vast expressive landscape. The programme opens with Bachās monumental Chaconne in Busoniās powerful transcription, before moving to Beethovenās radiant āWaldsteinā Sonataāone of the pinnacles of the Classical sonata repertoire. From there, the music travels across continents and styles: the fiery rhythms of Ginasteraās Danzas Argentinas, the sensual lyricism of Granados, and the sweeping passion of Rachmaninovās celebrated Preludes. The evening culminates in Ravelās dazzling La Valse, a glittering, intoxicating vision of the waltz on the edge of collapse. In Rupert Egerton-Smithās hands, this richly varied programme promises virtuosity, colour, and drama in abundance.

A wonderful experience playing two recitals at Powderham Castle, Devon on Friday, the first to 90 children from local primary and secondary schools, the second an evening recital of Bach-Busoni, Beethoven, Rachmaninov and Balakirev. Beautiful setting and lovely audiences.
Thanks to Powderham, The Earl of Devon and Music in The Castle.
