Swipe to see how @rachel__entrekin ’s fueling and hydration strategy played out at the @cocodona250 👀
Rachel’s carb intake (orange line) peaked at 72 grams per hour near Jerome after the first night, where she layered real food from her crew on top of gels and drink mix between stations. Her fluid intake (yellow line) tracks with temperature change, being highest in the desert heat and dropping through the overnight sections.
The second night brought freezing cold, rain and hail. This resulted in her carb intake dipping to 31g/h near Fort Tuthill and she drank just 120 millilitres an hour in this section. But she never stopped fueling, and by Walnut Canyon she’d brought her carbs back up to 53g/h before closing at 40g/h between Wildcat and the finish. 💪🏼
Experiencing zero gut issues across 254 miles was a huge result for Rachel, and testament to the gut training she’d done alongside a refined fueling strategy.
A new addition to her plan this year were the Electrolyte Capsules she used alongside plain water to keep her sodium levels up early on in the race. Her average sodium intake landed within ~15% of her actual sweat sodium losses and she rated the execution of her hydration plan 9/10. 🎯
In case you somehow missed it: Rachel became the first woman to win Cocodona outright, setting the course record in the process. 👑

Third time in 12 months. They’re 1-1. Entrekin won last year’s Cocodona after Dauwalter led through Mingus and dropped. Dauwalter took Chianti in March in the final miles. Now they’re back at Cocodona. Who you got?
