What started as a casual run club has become so much more. It is a community, a brotherhood, a tribe. At the heart of it all it is about the people. That is what Running with the Brothers is all about.
They say people only show up for two moments in your life, your wedding and your funeral. Whoever said that has clearly never run the @londonmarathon .
The love we felt yesterday was overwhelming. From friends, family, and even strangers lining the streets, it is still hard to put into words.
First and foremost, Alhamdulillah! Secondly, to our families and friends, thank you for carrying us through every mile of this 16 week journey. We could not have done it without you.
And to the @londonmarathonevents team, thank you for an experience we will carry with us forever.
When it is all said and done, it was not just race day that made it special, it was the journey. The long runs through Regentās, the early mornings, the buzz in the group chat, every moment will stay with us.
Until next time London š¤
Tomorrow is what 16 weeks of hard work looks like.
Good luck to our starboys taking on their first London Marathon. You have set the standard and inspired many across NW with the togetherness, grit and discipline youāve shown over the last 16 weeks.
Now you get to run your home city with your people behind you every step. This is what it is all for.
We will be with you the whole way.
People keep asking whatās changed this training block and why Iāve really been putting the work in.
I had a healthy, beautiful baby during the training block to London⦠not many can say they had a baby in their block, and yeah, itās changed the game.
All praise to the Most High, sheās given me a different kind of purpose. Got me wanting to level up in every area of life, not just running. Training wasnāt perfect, life was lifing, but when it was time to show up, we stood tall. If I ever slacked on a run, I would ask myself, is this the standard I want to set for my daughter and then pick it straight back up.
Been running three years now and these last few months sheās changed the game:
5K: 21:24 to 19:44
10K: 50:34 to 44:30
Half: 1:50 to 1:36
Marathon: 4:21 to loading
To my little princess/abo macaan, may you do everything you dream of and more. May God protect you always. Iām bringing @londonmarathon home for you.
