2:04:55 for 42,195 m
🥇New national record by 1 second and a 34-second personal best from his 2:05:29 in Tokyo 2020.
He took the record from Kengo Suzuki’s 2:04:56 from Lake Biwa 2021 and put his name on the top of Japanese marathon history again.
For a guy who “almost finished his career”, this is a full-power comeback. Quiet face, zero show, only pure suffering and 2:58/km on the clock.
