A little partying before the big weekend with the NYC Half Marathon. Always ready to mix it up with @asiantrailmix . Hosted by @newbalancerunning , also launching their newest Ellipse running shoe. We’ll be cheering on all the runners this Sunday at mile 11.5 (runners’ right). Fly, strut or dance as you go through and we’ll be sure to shout you out! I might even catch a photo of you smiling, doing your thang. 📸

This is my first year shooting photos at the NYC Marathon. I had ran this race every year since 2016. Though I experienced some fomo I was happy to still participate in a different way. It was a thrill to capture images of the runners, cheerers and spectators during the race. In the Bronx at mile 20, everyone, from the eventual winners to the groovy pace runners, the effects of the distance is undeniable. It’s what makes the marathon a marathon. It’s why we all line up for this challenge. This year I experienced the unique excitement from the other side of the line. As part of the Asian Trail Mix cheer squad we did our best to support the runners as they reach this proverbial wall. Our loud cheers lead by Miles the Super Panda, refreshments such as @redbull , @smartwater , @picklejuice and crowd favorite Coca Cola was there to help the runners break through this wall. Congratulations to all the runners of the @nycmarathon . @asiantrailmix @newbalance @nyrr

This year, Michael tackled his 6th #abbottdash5k with his family and friends. Thank you to Paul Ortolano, the race director at NYRR, for setting the stage and welcoming the Torrens family to run this amazing race. I’ve known Michael since 2013 when he was 10 years old. Living with Cerebral Palsy, he has overcome all sorts of physical challenges, endured major surgeries and come out the other side to attend college and do things like cross fit and running road races. I’m happy he has found running and staying active to be fun. I know he’s found a calling to challenge others who don’t believe they can accomplish something seemingly impossible, to go ahead and prove themselves and perhaps others wrong. He has certainly proven to me that attitude and determination will overcome any physical limitations, on a race course and in life. Kudos to his parents Javier and Anna Torrens for always demonstrating the profound levels of parental love with Michael. I know I have learned a great deal from them. My run buddy and Chief Cheering Officer, Katie, has been so instrumental with Team Michael. From figuring out who to contact (Paul) so the wheelchair can be secured and available at the finish for Michael, so Anna can also join Michael instead of watching his chair, to picking up all of our race bibs. She’s woven all the parts together so we can operate seamlessly. Did I mention she’s also the best cheerleader, with the loudest cheers even without a megaphone. You can always hear her cheers before you see her cheers. She may be tiny, but mighty! Let’s hear it for Michael for all his future races and endeavors. Go Team Michael!! 💙 @nyrr @michaelptorrens @annavtorrens @katiebyrne919 @orthodesignsnyc
