Apollo 13 captured the hearts of the planet when a routine task during its flight to the moon resulted in an explosion and the catastrophic loss of oxygen and power. The professionalism and efforts of the ground control staff and flight crew managed to avert disaster and turn the situation into one of the most recognisable and inspiring tales of space travel.

September 1977 saw the launch of both Voyager 1 and 2, their mission to study our Solar system and then venture out to interstellar space. Placed on both the probes was a “Golden Record” that carried audio and visual information about our planet, the diversity of life and where it’s located in the universe. Within the audio recordings there are greetings from Earth in 55 different languages.
