With Christmas basically over, now might be a good time to remind you that we (RULES) made a Christmas themed short film that debuted this past Summer at @springofhorror festival.
Its basically what would Deer Hunter (the film) look like if it was the members of our band playing Russian Roulette with Santa Claus.
Leading uo to this we didn't know we were going to try to actually act in this thing.
@patcoppolino directed this, @paulmaxwellfilm helped with camera, @seanmutt DOP'd, and it stars @maggiemaetaylor , @farmwarlock , @kevinbeeby and the members of RULES.
We had originally submitted this to @stomprecords and in their wisdom, let us know that this video would definitely be banned by Youtube and flagged by google.
Which it was.
We just thought it would be fun to do and didn't intend to make light of high stakes russian roulette with Santa.
Our follow up will come out early Spring and is defintiely a lot and x-rated.
The next video release will mark the end of the bummer era, as we venture into new ideas.
This video was for our song bodies in boxes, but we jokingly synched it to to Chuck's new Christmas banger Rich Part Of Town. (Slide 10)

Last night was fucking awesome. We needed that. I don’t think any of us in Rules knew how bad we needed that. Huge thanks to everyone who came out. We are surrounded by the best fucking people ever.
Last year when we called it a day it was hard, we love this thing. It’s rare in life that you find people that you can accomplish things creatively you never thought you were capable of. It’s what makes art art. All that really matters in this is when the art is arting.
We know Rules isn’t a make or break band for anyone but us, but we ended this thing in a bad place.
Last year we were feuding. Some more than others. But no one was stoked. One night, after a hellish tour, Chuck, Adam and I had it out until the sun came up. I feel like Alex just wanted Dad, Dad, and Dad to stop fighting. But even Alex was past the point of fuck it.
We had if out. It sucked. Adam’s wife Chelsey probably had to hear the whole thing. She might have heard me cry and I was born in the 70’s so I think crying is for nerds. Don’t get me wrong, we all cry. I like that the world is more emo, but the fellas and I grew up a little different. It was really hard for us to have the conversation we had.
Our guy, Adam Michael, in the picture above said something that will always stick with me, “I don’t give a fuck about a band, I don’t give a fuck about anything more than my friends”. And that was kind of that.
Nothing else had to be said.
while it’s been nice to see each other over the last year, it was weird and sparse.
But Adam was adamant that we needed to become friends again. Don’t get me wrong, we’re always family, but friends who put the work in and have fun and enjoy each other.
It sucked for a bit.
What I learned from this is that friendship isn’t wether you get in a fight or not, it’s how you resolve it.
When you actually decide to process the bullshit that doesn’t matter. Because what really matters is melting faces off with deadly tunes. And having fun. And not focusing on the stupid things. Life’s too fucking short.

We’re definitely stoked again.
