MEET the Creative Consultant & Movement Dramaturgist Ru Lawrence is a recognised movement director, performer, and theatre-maker from the South West of England, now based in London after receiving a 1st class degree in physical theatre from East15 Acting School. A working-class, queer, non-binary artist, their practice is rooted in truth and honesty, using the body as a primary tool to tell stories that explore grief, queerness, and working-class experience. They have trained and collaborated with leading physical theatre companies including Gecko, Frantic Assembly, and the David Glass Ensemble. Ru is the founder and Artistic Director of the internationally known company Tailwind Physical Theatre, where they create bold, movement-led performances that centre marginalised voices. Tailwind’s work, ‘I Wish You Called,’ has been featured at the Toronto Queer Film Festival and Dance East’s ‘Youth Fest’. Ru’s most recent production G R I E F C A S E has been presented across mid-scale and Off-West End venues including the Union Theatre, The Hope Theatre, and Siobhan Davies Studios. A full-scale production returns this Autumn in collaboration with The Hope Theatre. RU LAWRENCE FOR @remington.official Back in October I had the beauty of being selected to be in the latest campaign for a new line of beard trimmers and head shavers for @remington.official and what an amazing experience. Thank you to @studi0honey for the Modelling Debut, you made dreams come true. Thank you to the team as well. My head will be shinier and even more bald than ever before.

2024 RECAP This year has been absolutely phenomenal for our company. I am so grateful for all of the opportunities that we have had this year. Started the year performing for @dazehingorani GOOD GREIF for @sadlers_wells which was such an incredible experience. Movement directed a show for @zwilcox @whowhatwhereproductions sold out run at @theatre503 . Directed a staged reading at the @london.lovecraft.festival . Then became a resident artist @metalsouthend and created our first dance film and documentary I WISH YOU CALLED. Ran a number of intensive and workshops across the year, and met some of the most incredible and magical artists. Had the most gorgeous time experimenting with @lukebrowncompany Hosted two sold out scratch night and premieres with @vfdalston and @metalsouthend Collaborated on a 4 day development intensive with @thehopetheatre @stephenloveofficial @paperpuppets.workshop @amyrushentmovement with our new partners @weareuglyduck who have been incredible in supporting our journey this year. Started creating a brand new piece of work with @animikii_theatre_ which hopefully will be hitting the stage in 2025 2024 has been a monumental journey for us as a company and myself personally and I am so grateful for all of the support from my mentors @davidglassensemble and the @babel_theatre I would like to do a big shout of to @josephlynchcreative who has been such a rock and mentor for me on my creative journey this year and has given me some of the most incredible opportunities to facilitate, participate and learn more about having and running a company. You truly are so inspirational. We cannot wait to see what 2025 Holds ❤️❤️

G R I E F C A S E is a bold, movement-driven exploration of grief that blends dark humour, queer storytelling, and visceral physical theatre. Developed with Tailwind Physical Theatre, the show challenges traditional narratives by portraying grief as chaotic, messy, and deeply embodied. Through striking visuals and original sound, it invites audiences to experience loss in all its raw, uncomfortable, and cathartic forms. 📅 Performance dates: 4–6 August 2025 📍 Venue: The Hope Theatre, Islington @thehopetheatre 🎫 Link in Bio for tickets @thecamdenfringe @thehopetheatre Previously performed at : @siobhandaviesstudios @theuniontheatre
