Those of you who know me well, know how hard it is for me to be idle. A few days ago I started building this bar unit for our home in Vermont. My mom was well known in our extended family for making excellent Portuguese Sweet Bread. After she passed away unexpectedly, my brothers and I all tried to recreate the recipe using a combination of memories and recipes that weād found in books and online. A few months ago, I was casually mentioning this to my cousin Dina from Portugal and she told me that she had asked my mother for the recipe and that my mother had sat down and written it out for her!
