Eō!
I’m overwhelmed with emotion today. As a Native Hawaiian, I couldn’t be more proud to be part of a Grammy Award-winning project honoring Hawaiian music in our native language.
Never in a million years did I think this would happen in my career. It’s humbling, surreal, and deeply meaningful.
Mahalo piha to
@kalanipeamusic for your vision, talent, and showmanship—and for inspiring so many of us to learn and love ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi.
To
@allanbcoolpea , the producer, conductor, and guiding light of this project—mahalo for leading us with brilliance and aloha.
To
@michaelcasil , my brother for life-15 years of music together has been an honor. Watching you grow as an amazing engineer/producer/musician has been so fulfilling.
To
@wailauryder , a legend in your own right—from that conversation years ago about Hawaiian recordings to now, sharing this with you it’s like a dream come true.
I love you all and I’m deeply grateful to have played a small part of this incredible team!
Mahalo to the
@recordingacademy for recognizing the mana and beauty of Hawaiian music and honoring our community with this award.
To every artist, musician, engineer, producer, and label I’ve worked with over the last 30 years — mahalo nui. I would be nothing without you guys. Please consider joining the
@recordingacademy so we can continue to uplift our voices and be heard.
And to my family and friends who have supported me from the beginning I love you all and thank you for allowing me to excel in my craft!
And finally…
This moment carries so much joy — and deep ache.
My mom passed away last year, and I feel her with me in every note and breath. She walked with me through this journey, and I know she’s here now, smiling and proud.
This one’s for you, Mom. I miss you more than words can say. 😘
Mahalo Mahalo Mahalo! ❤️🙏🤙
