‘A Kind of Madness’ opens today in cinemas. This was an incredibly special experience—a tough but beautiful shoot through wind and rain, through laughter and pain. Shortly after Covid, people I love dearly had to say goodbye to the person they loved most. I felt helpless, not knowing how to make sense of that kind of loss. And so I felt I had to alchemize that heartbreak, had to somehow give it meaning, a platform, a space. Too often credit is given to a single voice—but this film is choral, it’s orchestral, it’s communal. I have to thank every single person who crossed paths with this story and infused their own grief, magic, skills, talent, and artistry. Every contribution is felt and appreciated. I am indebted to all of you. I still believe in the power of cinema as a communal, cathartic, immersive experience. It will be streamable eventually, but do yourself a favor and catch it at the cinema. This is a love story about letting go. I hope watching it is as meaningful as making it has been.
