So: I’ve finally released some music!
About a year after recording, two of my songs—“I Walked” and “Boy/Man”—are now available across all streaming platforms (other than Spotify and Amazon. Please reach out to me if you’d like info about these boycotts!). Check out the music if you’re interested. You can download from Bandcamp for free!
Some of the best people I know made this happen.
Firstly, the incredible Nikita Krakhofer (
@niki.krax ), one of my dearest friends and just a stunning film photographer. He really captured my band’s bright spirit.
Sharon Hurvitz (
@sharon_hurvitz ) absolutely killed it on the mastering—she’s a saint. You can hear how good that sounds, right?
I love Joel Bobby (
@joeldoessidequests ) with my whole heart. He’s a kickass producer and just one of the most excellent people I know. You’ll be hearing about him in the jazz world, trust. Even in the face of some crazy technical challenges on recording day, Joel really pulled the detail out in these tracks, and he did so with boundless professionalism and warmth all the way. We will be friends for a long time.
Lastly, a massive thank you to my band. Jonathan Paik (
@jonathan_paik ), Tony Golden (
@tony.golden ), and Quinton Cain (
@ilikethedrums ) are friends from three vastly different stages of my life. I’ve known Quinton for almost ten years! These three are unbelievable players and such profoundly beautiful people. As most of my friends know, my relationship with music is and always has been a battle. My band has really uplifted me through the doubt. They play my music with such conviction, sensitivity, and skill, and it sounds the way it always did in my head. Thank you, all three of you, for your hard work and generosity.
Thanks to Bob Arnold, Literary Executor of Lorine Niedecker’s estate, for licensing the words of one of my favorite poets as lyrics on “I Walked.”
Last year I sort of stepped away from music. I’d like to make this year my gentle return. If anyone wants to get together and play, hmu!
