I did as I was told for the YouTube Legacy Party celebrating 20 Years of @youtube ! It’s always a beautiful occasion and I love being reminded of the achievement, milestones and legacies that have been built and accomplished in the scene.

Losing a parent is inevitable 💔 But we hope it happens when they’re really, really old and grey - after we’ve had a lifetime of milestones with them. That’s if we think about it at all… We can’t avoid it, but what we can do is make the most of the time before then. And I mean really make the effort. This is something I was hit with 5 years ago.
I wish I had more quality time with my Dad as an adult. It’s something I’m learning to live with - by honouring him and continuing the legacy he started to build. I’ve also made more of an effort to spend time with the important people around me, to understand who they are, their history, and their journey. I mentioned the importance of this 4 years ago as it was a lesson I wanted to share - to prevent even the tiniest bit of regret or guilt for the people I love and know. Make the effort. We can all make time for it. We should.
I saw a book called ‘Dad, I Want to Hear Your Story’. I was heartbroken that I couldn’t do it with my Dad, but I bought one for my mum and I to go through - and I’ve loved every part of sitting down, learning, and documenting aspects of her life, especially her life before me.
In the hope of encouraging anyone reading this, I’ve bought more of the books. Please DM me if you’d like to buy one.
Grief has been a mean, unexpected teacher, but it’s taught me a lot about quality time and preserving memories. And if there’s one positive that can come from this experience, it’s encouraging more memories to be made and shared. I’ll take it.
It also feels fitting as my Dad loved an autobiography or biography!
RIP Dad 🕊️ gone but never forgotten. I will continue to try to make you proud and live until 100! 🙏🏾

I didn’t get to experience the tour but I got a beautiful glimpse of the magic and insight into the preparation & hard work that went into what can only be described as a masterpiece last night.
