On the 9 May, Leeds collective I Donât Mind hosted their first live electronic jam session at Hyde Park Book Club.
Peliqan opened the evening with a mix of electronic sound before inviting the audience to join in. Their emphasis being on making electronic music accessible and inviting to the community.
Drummer Tariq said,
âThe thing about music isnât the playing or how good you are.
Itâs just how willing are you able to communicate?
Like how willing are you to share how you feel in the moment?â
Two support acts followed, before BOSSdaddy closed the night with an entertaining, unique set.
Part of organisers, I donât Mind,, Ella said the night grew from an audioâvisual project into a space for people to meet, play and start something new.
With the recent shift in Leeds as well-loved music venues close, the event was a lasting reminder the cityâs music scene was very much still alive and thriving - you just need to know where to look.
Everyone who got involved had an amazing time and speaking to both organisers and artists after, there was a strong sentiment that this will happen again. Make sure to keep an eye out!
