I was chillin at home one evening when Melo of @melopatisserie messaged me to create whatever I wanted for this 14 ft wall. Melo courageously opened his Patisserie this time last year, during the pandemic. He put up a temporary framed menu but wanted it updated for his 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY PARTY! He told me he loved my work and trusted me to do whatever I wanted. (This, for the record, is an artist’s dream. The freedom to create!)
I’ve sourced chalkboards, mirrors and other signage material before but nothing to fill a 14 ft wall. I called everywhere!! I only had a couple weeks and didn’t want to run the risk of a shipping delay especially for something that big and right before the August long weekend. Thankfully, I came across @visualsystems_ Bev was so helpful and accommodating with all my order requests!! I really appreciate you coordinating everything with me! Shaun and your son did such an amazing installation! I couldn’t have done that all on my own. Thank you so much!! It was everything I thought it would be and MORE!

Some people don’t realize how much time it takes to create a chalkboard menu like this, on-site, with such precise lettering. This specific board doesn’t get updated as frequently so I made sure to use something that will last longer than chalk.

Whenever possible I try to drop off any signage I create so I can help with the set up. I personally love the process from start to finish (from making the sign to setting up at the venue). This not only gives me the opportunity to help showcase the art I’ve created but most importantly allows me to meet the wonderful people I’ve been interacting with along the way. 💕
