I've always loved the little maps in the beginning of a fantasy book, so I made my own of one of the most magical places I know and where I was lucky enough to live for much of my childhood. Handpainted and coffee dyed. I referenced it to many different maps of Peaks, and it's as accurate as it can be while remaining stylized - perfect for anyone not lost but wandering. I feel like new year happens on the solstice. I worked hard last year, opened and handed off a print shop, said farewell to my home of ten years, and moved back to maine. My heart grew and broke and grew and broke, I made new friends, played a lot of magic, made music, and spent a lot of time alone in nature. I’ve been painting more, leaning into sculpture too, and I’m excited to keep learning. I was informed that last year is considered the year of the snake in what’s often called the Chinese Zodiac. It was a year of shedding and regrowth. The coming year is the year of the fire horse. I am gonna leave the old skin behind and grip that burning mane as tight as I can while we charge into devil knows what. Thank you to the people who get tattooed by me, support my art, challenge me, believe in me, and teach me. I am grateful to be carrying so much love into the “new year”, despite the sorrow.
