I decided to have a joyful day instead of a productive day. My soul needed this more than I knew; not pictured is a dog named Penelope running up to me on boardwalk after getting away from her mama. She ran right to me and gave me lots of loving. When the owner caught up and told me her name was Penelope I knew it was spirit at work. 🐕 🐾 I needed this. Happy Full Moon in Scorpio ♏️ Happy Beltane 🖤 Happy May 🪬

1. Having access to yoga props. Yes. Please 🙏 It may seem like a no brainer, but not every yoga studio carries props. Also, can we can talk about studios charging for mat rentals? How do we feel about this? . 2. A cold towel after a hot yoga class. 🤤 Heaven is a place on earth. . 3. Chit chatting before class. 🫂 It's not for everybody but it sure is nice to talk to someone other than my 7 year old. . . What's a YES for you in a yoga class/yoga studio?

Being a full time, business owner + operator is not for the weak. I was so jaded when I started a decade ago. Here's 3 mistakes I've made as a business owner and what I learned from them: . 1. I once offered a "smoking hot deal" 20 class pass for $40. I thought it would help increase summer numbers. 🙄 Boy was I wrong; it actually made my summer way more stressful. It attracted the wrong clients; I even had to threaten a client with legal action after they attend ALL 20 CLASSES for the measley $40 and then filed a charge back with their credit card company. Imagine: you basically get free yoga and then try to steal from a small business owner: WILD! {she lost the cc dispute} I learned that I am worth more than $2/class! My teachers deserve more than $2/class! Cheap tricks attract cheap clients; I am not cheap. I offer an exceptional service and will be equally compensated. . 2. I forgot to pay my LLC fee's TWO YEARS IN A ROW! 👀 Postpartum + The Pandemic = Brain Mush. In addition, I moved studios and never changed addresses with The Division of Corp., so I didn't receive my notices. I owed almost $3000 in fees; it was a HUGE hit for a new, small business owner. I learned that the financial details matter. I don't want to lose money making silly mistakes. Book keeping, accounting and managing finances is the key to a solid financial system. I also have reminders set at the beginner of the every year to pay my LLC fees. I'm in business to make money, not lose it. . 3. I hired the wrong people and kept them around too long. Ew. It may be a surprise to some, but i used to be really terrible at confrontation. I once hired someone I knew from a previous job, they seemed to have it all: the look, the knowledge, the passion. But it was obvious (to me) the second week that they were not a fit for Shakti. But instead of letting them go, I kept them around for about 3 months too long. It didn't got well. I learned that it's easier to let people go sooner than later because they can cost me money, time, clients and lots of energy. . Are you a business owner? What mistake have you made and what have you learned from it?

***EDIT - I'm not going anywhere and the Wednesday 6pm class is still on the schedule- I'm just taking a step back from teaching on Wednesdays to let Alyson take over my class. This will let me focus more time and energy on being a Mom and taking the steps in my business ownership. I am excited! ** . I taught my final Wednesday night class tonight at Shakti ❤️ It's bittersweet, I'm excited for the next chapter but sad to let go of this class I've been teaching for 8 EIGHT YEARS!! . It will all work out. It will all work out. It will all work out. . I trust the process. . I believe in divine timing. . #ontothenextone
