On Saturday, March 21, we lost a special man. Josh’s dad, Joe Head, passed away after battling cancer. He was a beloved man that holds a very special place in our hearts.
When Emery first began and moved from South Carolina to Seattle, we had no family or friends there outside of the few of us that traveled across the country. We met Josh shortly after getting settled and was introduced to his family.
When we decided to devote all of our time and money to making the band work, Joe and Patty were the first ones to give us a place to stay. We lived outside their home in a 28 ft racing trailer for a few months before moving into their rental house next door. Joe was our landlord, our employer (for some extra money) and quickly became a band dad to all of us. He taught us how to be responsible adults and yet allowed us to be kids with a dream. He was our biggest supporter as we began to grow, play more shows and begin making a name for ourselves. He even allowed us to host and play shows in his rental garage with way too many people in there.
He was there to help us build out our DIY buses. He traveled with us on tour many times and always welcomed us to his home anytime we came back around. The Head family became our family and that has never changed.
We will miss Joe’s presence in our lives. His lessons, his kindness, his Hawaiian shirts and flip flops, and the care that he showed for our own families and children. But we know his legacy lives on through his kids, his grandkids and his extended family of Emery. ❤️
Thank you so much to everyone who celebrated 20 years of The Question with us! These were some of the best shows we’ve ever had and it’s because of you guys! New music and more shows coming up…love y’all ❤️🖤❤️
