A little Friday update from the Rubbertoe workshop…
The V3 11th Sonic is taking shape, piece by piece, between prop builds, late nights, and far too much sanding. But now it’s now getting my full focus and it’s looking SMOKING 🔥.
This will be the sharpest, cleanest, most accurate 11th Sonic to leave my bench.
Handmade by me in Wales, built the old school way.
(I’ve also been teaching myself how to take decent photographs and learning Adobe Premiere, hence the fancy video 😉.

This is a great personal announcement for me.
I met Nick years ago and we became good friends.
I loved visiting his workshop and getting the chance to hold the props and watching him make them as well.
His business has grown rapidly and his props have been used in lots of episodes of Doctor Who.

Nick Robatto is a renowned prop maker and the creative force behind Rubbertoe Replicas, best known for his extensive work on Doctor Who. As a key prop fabricator for the modern era of the series, Nick crafted many of the show’s most iconic hero props, including several sonic screwdrivers, alien technology, and countless on‑screen gadgets that defined the look and feel of the revived Whoniverse.
His work spans multiple Doctors and eras, bringing precision engineering, practical effects craftsmanship, and a signature handmade aesthetic to the TARDIS team’s toolkit. Today, through Rubbertoe Replicas, Nick continues to produce screen‑accurate, officially licensed Doctor Who replicas, keeping the artistry of practical prop‑making alive for fans and collectors worldwide.
Whether designing a new sonic or recreating a beloved classic, Nick’s work remains a cornerstone of modern Doctor Who visual storytelling.
Been quietly grafting away on the new V3 11th Sonics.
A few parts tried to test my patience (and my sanity), but after a couple of minor setbacks we’re back on track and the results are looking seriously sharp.
Resin parts are now shiny as a brand new TARDIS console panel,
sound boards are loud like a Dalek having a bad day,
and the flicking action is smooth like the workshop floor after someone’s spilled silicone spray everywhere.
V3 is waking up. And it’s looking mean. More updates and pictures to come soon.
Busy day in the workshop pulling these 11th Doctor emitter casts out of the moulds. We’re deep in production mode at the moment, so thank you for bearing with us while we get everything poured and perfect. The finish on these is looking ridiculously sweet… every time I demould one it looks like a tiny sci‑fi sweet you shouldn’t eat but absolutely could. 🍬 Loving how this batch is turning out.
Still a lot to do but we’re getting there ✌🏻

We’re just finishing off making the last ever batch of 14th Doctor Sonics… and honestly, it’s been a surprisingly chill ride. No nightmare parts, no “why did we agree to this” moments. Just a solid, satisfying build. Well… unless you ask Rhyd, the aluminium polishing has absolutely broken him. Man’s been buffing metal like he’s trying to summon a genie.
The decals? Fiddly at first, but after the first 50 we basically became decal ninjas. And overall, this sonic has been a joy, miles better than the 13th, which tried its best to end us.
The mechanisms are gorgeous (cheers Michael you mechanical wizard). Now we wait to see what Christmas brings. New Doctor incoming… which hopefully means a new sonic for us to replicate. Ideally something sleek with moving parts, a solid emitter… maybe a little nod to the classics. Maybe a bit of 11th energy. Who knows what chaos awaits.
For now, we’re wrapping up this final batch: nickel plating the buttons, buttons on, final checks, one last polish… and off they go to their new homes.
