Old School Sunday - March 1986. An unconventional one today, a 40 year marker for me! 🎉🎊
To celebrate, I thought I would try some tricks I haven’t done in a while. So I put together a brake bike, and voilà. 🪄✨

This was so fun, and a little painful. 😃

So grateful!

Old School Sunday — May 1988.
This is John Huddleston riding at an AFA Masters Contest in Austin, Texas. John whipped and scuffed his way to a 5th-place finish in the brutally competitive 17 Expert class.
It’s safe to say the Pennsylvania crew put their home state firmly on the flatland history map at this contest (if not before). Absolute legendary stuff here!
Full run on my YouTube channel.

Not too sore about 5️⃣4️⃣😄🎉🎂
Grateful for another trip around the sun.
Checked off a lifelong goal this year—my own backyard riding spot.
Garage… you might get a break every now and then. 😊

Old School Sunday — May 1987.
This is Danny Meng riding a local American Freestyle Association contest in Columbus. Love that opening flail boomerang. 🔥
Danny was riding in the 14–15 Expert class here, and keep an eye out for the “Meng Sting” (backwards infinity roll to cherrypicker). He didn’t pull it in this run, but it became one of his signature moves later in ’87.
Great memories from an awesome era.
Full run is up on my YouTube.

Throwback Thursday - April 2011. Riding at the JoMoPro contest in Joplin, Missouri.
Miss this contest series and spot. Unfortunately, the park was destroyed by an EF5 tornado a month after this photo was taken!

Old School Sunday - April 1987. This is Sean Deckard riding at a local AFA contest near Columbus, Ohio. Sean and I grew up together and watching this floods my mind with memories. This was Sean’s first super clean run - of many, and also his first win. Still love that candy-bar decade. Today, Sean is a husband, dad, chiropractor and rad dude!

Old School Sunday - 1988. This is Tommy Simpson riding at a local AFA contest in Manchester, NH. Tommy won the 14-15 Expert class at this one, and his run was featured in the East Coast Rules video by North Coast Productions. Tommy was a legend on the contest scene back in the day, and is perhaps best remembered as the kid who would often leave his bike in the car until it was almost time for his run. He would bring the bike in, pull a flawless run, and put it back in the car. 😉 Always dialed!
