Education is one of the most powerful tools in neurorecovery.
RTI and NASCIC are proud partners, helping to expand awareness and education around integrated Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) for individuals living with a spinal cord injury or neurological impairment.
Through this collaboration, we’re helping connect clinicians, patients, caregivers, and advocates with evidence-based education, real-world applications, and advanced rehabilitation technology that supports long-term recovery and mobility outcomes.

Mental health determines how you move through your life.
Strength. Function. Independence.
FES Therapy systems like the RT300 and Xcite2 can help patients improve mobility so they can rebuild confidence, too.
Every step forward impacts more than just the body.

Bandna (T-12) is putting in intentional work on rebuilding her posterior chain, and every element of this setup has a purpose beyond just movement. By integrating the XCITE system @rticonnect (NMES), we’re not just stimulating muscles, we’re helping re-establish communication between her nervous system and the muscles responsible for posture, stability, and extension. This creates a stronger foundation for voluntary movement while reinforcing neuromuscular awareness. At the same time, we’re emphasizing load-bearing through the skeletal system, which is critical for improving bone density, joint integrity, and overall structural resilience. This isn’t just about standing, it’s about teaching the body that it is safe and capable of supporting itself again.
The use of resistance bands plays a huge role. Physically, they assist with back extension, giving her the support needed to move through the full range safely. Neurologically and psychologically, they help reduce the fear of falling forward by providing controlled assistance. This allows Bandna to explore movement with confidence, knowing she has support guiding her down slowly and helping her return upright when she initiates the effort. That combination builds trust both in her body and in the process.
As she gains more control, we transition into functional sit-to-stand patterns with back extension, directly connecting her training to activities of daily living. NICE WORK! NEVER GIVE UP!!
