Yesterday, we celebrated Mayday, the International Workers' Day, by learning about the concepts, people, and organizations that make up the beauty industry. We highlighted the importance of the labor movements, the people behind the hair industry, and why the industry needs to imagine doing things differently. Thank you to @maydaysaloncoop for putting on such a profound event. Thank you to @sec4cd for discussing the history of labor movements and for creating a wonderful interactive exercise to build a solidarity economy in the salon industry. And, thank you to @rthrb for documenting the event; you captured the essence and energy of yesterday.

I was Lillie’s chauffeur back and forth to school for a semester this past year. Every afternoon was like absorbing an entire season of reality TV. She taught me more than I thought she would and I miss those car rides home. I am so lucky to be your friend.
