When I was a little kid, my Aunt Tootsie gave me a swim cap. I thought it was the greatest thing, often wearing it around the house. It had pink hair down the back. My sisters had blue hair. I charrish these memories with my aunt and give a nod to her love and kindness by recreating my version of that swim cap.

This project was a long time coming. I started working on this in mid summer of 22. Inspired by a book my first mentor aquired the year I graduated beauty school. She never share the book with me. Years later after her passing her daughter gave me the book. It was about the history of hair. As I looked through the book I was inspired by the finger waves, remembering how challenging they were to do on my model for my state boards. I call it "The Tootsie" my mentors nickname. I wanted to recreate them with a modern twist. Inspired by the color shifting Cosmetics I painted them with @denessamyricks twin flames.
Finally in early November I was able to bring this to life. Assistant by a great team I did the hair and makeup then was able to photographer @mayaashleyharper she had the perfect look for this project. A big thank you to @rameses_studio for lighting help and wardrobe. This image is beautifully retouched by @sandi_gagne

Inspiration: The book Hair in Fashion by Richard Carson, passed down to me by my cousin who is also a hairdresser. The book belonged to her mom and my mentor a master stylist and salon owner. Vanessa Davis ( @the_wigs_and_makeup ) inspired me by her innovative use of makeup. Applying it to hair was brilliant and Danessa Myricks for cool color shifting pigments.
