This weekend we began the install for 'Soft Limits, Strange Loops', part of @dmz_studio Show and Tell 🕺 opening this Friday! I can't sensibly describe the chaos this install has involved so I will endeavour to summarise in list form: - 4 hours of sleep after working the local election count - 1 dead pigeon - 2 freak door locking incidents - 1 very lovely emergency locksmith - 45 minutes spent in ubers between the storage unit and the venue - maaaaaaaaaany coffees - 6 gorgeous showcases of work by DMZ & friends!!! Huge thank you to @emmaillingworth_ for all your practical and emotional support. Special shout out to @kayshah_art & @hannaahamdache for dealing with the pigeon. @charlotteholtart there's no one I'd rather explore Spooky basements with. Come down & join us from 6-9pm on Friday to celebrate the exhibition! UPDATE: THIS SHOW HAS BEEN POSTPONED 🖼️ DMZ and friends presents Show and Tell 🎭 We’re very excited to invite you to our new show! This exhibition brings you 7 rooms curated by each member of DMZ, each responding to the theme of show and tell differently. Different practices, different artists, different ideas. The show takes place in a disused college building currently awaiting refurbishment in the city centre. The Shena Simon Campus is sandwiched between Sackville Gardens and Kampus. The entrance to the show will be through the gates opposite Madré/Sainsbury’s in Kampus, and up to the first floor. Thanks to @cert_property for having us! Each member of DMZ will share their interpretation by announcing their shows and artists separately, so stay tune to find out more! Private view: Friday 15th May 6-9pm - link in bio for tickets! One of my favorite things about working at @stockr__m throughout the summer has been DELVE. With the ever fabulous @caseyorrphoto , working with young people from @the_proud_trust , we've taken photos, explored punk crafts, talked about fashion, identity, place, herritage... piri piri chips, rat ownership and the 2007 cult classic movie Flatland. On THURSDAY, we're launching our latest exhibition at Stockroom. The DELVE young people have been the driving force behind the show, and you can see their images, alongside Casey Orr's STUNNING Saturday Town portraits, and a few other special bits ✨️ Its been an absolute pleasure to curate and co-produce the exhibition with the absolutely amazing young people. Many of our students are working on their final major projects at the moment - an exciting but daunting time. It feels like a long time ago that I first started working with @mishkahenner & @espeedina as Project Coordinator on the Energy House 2.0 artist residencies... One of the really gorgeous things about working on long term projects is seeing how seeds of ideas change and transform. It was a real pleasure to visit and spend time with the final Energy House 2.0 exhibition at @castlefieldgall Mishka and Emily have both created these beautiful and strange monuments to the whole 18 month process and I am reminded of haunted houses, scale models and long, dark days spent in anechoic chambers. You've still got some time to see the exhibition and experience the work that a large windowless warehouse full of new build houses can inspire; from the comforts of home to the end of the world... you've got until the 20th. It was a pleasure to be a part of the Energy House 2.0 Artist Residency project with the amazing teams at @uos_artcollection @castlefieldgall @openeyegallery @salfordacoustics @sftoc 📸 @juleslisterphotography

Do you get to work in a super cool library/art gallery/community space/cafe/kids wonderland? If you have the means... I highly recommend. Stockroom opened at the end of May, and I'll be honest, it's been pretty non-stop since then! We've done some pretty epic things, so here is a moment to celebrate those. From shouting about the space on the UK's tallest billboard, to seeing over 15,000 people through the doors on our opening weekend. It's been pretty special to see the space that was still a shell when I started in post in March come to life. I've found a secret skill set as an epic silent disco DJ, we've put on events from secret gigs to zine fairs, and every day it's immense to see people using the space. Spending the early May Bank Holiday Sunday locked inside the depths of the University of Salford Acoustics Department is becoming one of my favourite annual traditions. It was an absolute joy to have been invited back by @uos_artcollection to support the delivery of @hayleysuviste From The River's Mouth for @sftoc A truly beautiful piece of work exploring the River Irwell from Peel Park to Kelsal Wetlands. It was such a pleasure to be able to spend the day with it. Also a shout out to the groovy 70s vibes of the @salfordacoustics Listening Room. Happy Sounds to all those who celebrate!
