Painting reveal of the @emiratesgbrsailgp team
For this painting, I drew inspiration from the incredible @rspinto and some of his brilliant action shots from the race, a big thank you.
In my concept sketch I wanted to bring a strong abstract movement to the piece, I went through a few renditions, but landed on this beautiful flowing wave, opening up a space for the sail to split the canvas in two.
Speed was also important, so I used the water to convey the speed of the vessel and add some vibrant colour to the piece.
When it came to work on the boat, it was all about the details, capturing droplets of sea spray and intricate parts of the vessel is what makes it for me.
I really had an absolute blast painting this piece, both in the studio and at the UK Sail GP this summer gone. Thank you to @sailgp for working with me on this and hopefully we can do it again in the future !
