*GUITAR GEEK POST ALERT* This is my home made mute pedal (christened the MUTE DIVING MUFF BLASTER by @eddytbaker ) fresh from the 3rd or 4th complete rebuild since I first had the idea in 2018, around the time @binge_mcr was formed. I'm generating guitar and bass tones at the same time and I wanted more dynamic control over the 'bass' signal to add an extra dimension to the arrangements. It's a simple network of two quadruple-pole double-throw footswitches, one latching, one momentary, both working as ON/OFF for the guitar signal and the super bright LED, housed in a Marshall amplifier footswitch chassis. When the latching switch is off, the bass sound is muted and the momentary switch brings the signal in and out momentarily - great for having the 'bass' follow drum stabs while the guitar keeps going. When the latched switch is on, I can then momentarily cut the bass out, allowing accents from the guitar to cut through more. Since coming up with the idea I've revised the design so that the LED follows the guitar signal exactly - the original only showed the ON/OFF state of the latching switch - and swapped out numerous switches that developed faults after many months of rhythmic hammering (I'd love to find some more durable switches!). I've also more recently made a second one for use in the guitar signal path with the switch positions reversed, so that the main ON/OFFs are right next to eachother on the board to allow me to easily mute both signal chains at the same time with one foot. You can hear it in action via the BINGE bandcamp page and all major streaming platforms, or live and direct at our show at @aatmamcr next Friday with the mighty @under_ist_krieg and @pocketknifemusic #pedal #guitarpedals #guitarpedal #pedalboards #mathrock #diymusician #guitartech

"Sundowner" Watching the sun set from a small boat on Mtwapa Creek, Mombasa, Kenya 🇰🇪 with @kumamcgrath After what feels like (because it has been) days of travel, my first proper day in Kenya didn't disappoint. Apart from the two hour delay for the internal flight from Nairobi, but that now feels like a distant memory. #nofilter

The last festival of the summer is now done and things are winding down after a very eventful busy season - mainly looking after guitars for The Zutons and monitors for Pip Millett, but some great one offs and odd jobs too, for the likes of Grace Jones, New Order, Download Festival, The Lovely Eggs and Elbow, as well as random audio gigs on location at skate parks, swimming pools and cricket clubs. Big thanks to everyone I have worked with over the summer, it’s been a blast. Now to do something about all those gaps in the calendar so I don’t have to get a real job! #guitartech #backlinetech #soundengineer #monitorengineer #stagecrew

Super fun* week backline teching for the Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio on the northern leg of their UK tour! *apart from the bits that involved getting that monstrous Hammond B3 organ on and off stages and vans 🙃

This is tomorrow - as some of you probably know this is a bit of a dream come true for me as Lightning Bolt are one of my favourite bands and the main inspiration for starting Binge. If you're free, come down, you won't be disappointed.

It's been an honour and a privilege looking after Pete's basses and Alex's kit on the road with elbow the past few weeks, culminating on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury yesterday, which was pretty mind blowing! A few days off now and then on to Lytham and Scarborough next week.
