A slow day at the office for the opening day of the Pallas Capital Gold Cup finale at RPAYC, with light and tricky conditions making every shift count for the 18 Grand Prix racers across the TP52s and Super 40s.
In the TP52s, Smuggler leads TPR from Matador and Virago, while Matador and Smuggler are tied on top in IRC ahead of Virago and First Light.
In the Super 40 fleet, Beau Ideal holds the advantage across SFR, ORC and IRC, with Ambition and Edge locked in a tight fight behind them.
Off the water, supporters were treated to a front-row seat to the action thanks to John and Lyndall Bacon, hosting an on-water supporters event aboard their beautiful Grand Banks.

Here we go for the finale.
Eight boats were out for the training session last night ahead of the Pallas Capital Gold Cup finale, which kicks off today from RPAYC.
A perfect Pittwater sunset training session, with more Grand Prix boats than we see at some regattas 🌅⛵️
Not a bad way to warm up for a decider.

The Selden for Sailing Lion Island Series continued on Saturday with a spectacular Race 02.
@selden_mast
Race 2 of the Selden for Sailing Lion Island Series delivered a classic afternoon of Pittwater racing, with multiple postponements, building breeze and tightly contested fleet action across all divisions.
After an initial delay under AP, Division 1 finally got away on their third start attempt, settling into a light southerly breeze that built to around 14 knots. The fleet worked upwind toward to Saltpan Cove, then ran down Pittwater to West Head under a sea of spinnaker, and into Broken Bay to the round the Box Head mark. The conditions in Broken Bay were relatively stable, with a south easterly breeze,allowing spinnakers to be hoisted once again with a run around Lion Island.
Condor and Seeking Alpha featured prominently at the front of Division 1, taking advantage of the freshening pressure as the fleet powered past West Head and around Lion Island before turning back toward the finish off Scotland Island.
Division 2 enjoyed a clean but tightly packed start, with crews “packed in like sardines” off the line. Gezzabelle capitalised on local knowledge of Pittwater and the improving breeze to make strong gains throughout the race.
As Division 3 began racing, Division 1 boats were already charging back downwind under spinnaker, creating a busy racetrack across Pittwater. Division 4 start saw an individual recall as eager competitors pushed the line their advantage along the line.
The fresh southerly created excellent racing conditions for the return leg, with crews enjoying the challenges back toward the finish. At the tail end of the fleet, Erini brought the afternoon to a picturesque conclusion, enjoying the late sunshine over Pittwater as the crew headed toward the finish line, south of Scotland Island, to complete Race 2 of the series. #LionIslandSeries #PittwaterSailing #SailingCommunity #rpayc
