A few weeks ago, @goldcoindonation released two of my favourite songs.
On the very same day they were released, my dad passed away.
Bit awkward !
He chose voluntary assisted dying after dealing with cancer for two and half years.
He chose the day that I had chosen!
I had to tell him, and all we could do was laugh at how absurdly outrageous that fact was.
Dad, in recent times, was getting a little annoyed with me for caring more about him than my “music career.”
He kept demanding that I get more gigs and do more with my recorded music.
I kind of thought it might be a little more important to soak up some more time with him than playing more rooms that smell like piss and beer.
He didn’t understand this.
These songs are not dedicated to him. They are far too goofy for that - but what they are, is a dedication to what he wanted for me. To keep pushing, to keep creating and to keep putting art into the world no matter what.
The only way I can cope with two of the dumbest songs ever coming out that day is if there is some sort of spiritual cosmic meaning to the fact that date was chosen.
Dad would often join me for my eveleigh gigs, before he got too sick.
I can’t put into words the joy and honour it was to play with him, to discover him in that way and for him to discover me.
It meant the world.
I can still hear him playing that damn saxophone right in my ear!
He’s the coolest and I love him so much.

Hello, my band @goldcoindonation released their first single today!!
We’ve been playing together live for over a year now, and this is the first taste of plenty more to come !!
The band is made up of myself, the stunning @gabriel_haslam and the beautiful @matt.haviland !
We recorded, produced, mixed & mastered virtually everything in our sharehouse in Redfern !

I wrote this album based around a trip with friends.
I was listening to a lot of Joni Mitchell and George Harrison at the time, and I really hope you can hear their influence!
This album focused a lot on the ever changing state of relationships. From friends to lovers and back again - to barely that.
Weird!
The album really means a lot to me.
I tried to say all I could with it.
