Tonight, the Mint will be illuminated in blue and green for World Neurofibromatosis Awareness Day.
Neurofibromatosis (NF) is a genetic condition that causes tumours to grow along nerves in the body. While often non-cancerous, these tumours can lead to a range of health challenges, affecting the skin, nervous system and overall quality of life.
We light up in recognition of the resilience of those living with NF, and in appreciation of the families, carers, and healthcare professionals who walk alongside them every day.

New Coin Release
1941: Service Amid Strife – Three coloured coins commemorate the efforts of the Australian armed forces during 1941, and the establishment of the women’s services the same year. These are stories of Australian bravery against a determined foe at a time when the outcome of the war was uncertain.

Tonight, the Mint will glow orange for National Palliative Care Week.
Palliative care focuses on comfort, dignity and support, not just for the individual, but also for their families and carers.
The week aims to raise awareness, break down misconceptions, and encourage open conversations about end-of-life care, ensuring more Australians understand that palliative care is about living as well as possible, for as long as possible.
Our lighting is a simple gesture of support, recognising the compassion and care at the heart of this essential service.

Tonight, the Mint will light up yellow and green for Chemical Sensitivity Awareness Week.
This week helps raise awareness of the daily challenges faced by people living with chemical sensitivities, and the importance of creating safer, more inclusive environments for everyone.
By lighting up, we stand with those impacted and help spark conversation, understanding and awareness.

For many collectors, the original 1966 round 50c isn’t just a coin — it’s a treasure.
Struck in 80% silver, it quickly became one of the most sought‑after pieces from Australia’s first year of decimal currency.
What began as everyday change is now a prized part of countless collections across the country.
Do you have a round 50c in your collection — or a story about finding one?
We’d love to hear it.
