Happy fifth birthday to Harriet, who hates the spotlight so tolerates her sister’s photobombing, even on her birthday.

Finally, Pranzo, my new cookbook is available as of today. It’s been two and a bit years in my retirement time to put together recipes, photography, styling, design and to work with an incredible group of amazing people at @hardiegrantbooks books everyone has been so kind and supportive, the incredible head of editorial, @jasmin_chua , editor @martine_lleonart , creative director, Christine Thomas, typesetter Celia Mande, head of production, Todd Rechner and production controller Jessica Harvie. Pranzo would never had been born without @roxymayryan who was the first to open the black bag. Finally to my fantastic publisher @simonnpdavis . Your enthusiasm, support, generosity and love of food and design has made the project what it has become. Pranzo (lunch) Sicilian(ish) recipes and stories. #books #bookdesign #design #cookbooks #melbourneindependantdesign

Greg Malouf was the first famous chef I worked with at Hardie Grant and I remember being nervous about working on his book, I think it was Turquoise. But instead of intimidating he was charming and funny and cheeky and kind. It was the first of many books and we worked together for over 15 years. He was a chef who could run a Michelin starred restaurant and (with @lucymaloufwriter ’s considerable talents) write the perfect recipe for a home cook, which is very rare. I cook from his books constantly. When he moved to Dubai he’d come to Melbourne a few times a year and have lunch with @juliepinkham and I. We’d have a very nice time with good food and wine, which is what he liked to do best. Of course I thought there’d be more lunches and more books. I’ll really miss him and I’m so sad we won’t get to publish the new book he was working on. But I’m pleased that his classics Turquoise and Saraban are being re-released in December so plenty more people can discover how talented he was. ❤️

Made this glorious Flourless Chocolate Cake from @beatrixbakes Beatrix Bakes: Another Slice today. 1: this will be the best chocolate cake you ever make - so chocolatey but so so light. All these years I didn’t know the almond meal in my flourless chocolate cake was just weighing me down! 2: this book is a joy and every recipe will make you a better baker with Nat’s lovely voice explaining and cheering and telling you everything you need to know. 3: there is also a Nelly reference which is surely a first for a baking book and that’s reason enough to love it. 🎶 🍰

So proud of the whole Hardie Grant and Ultimo team for TEN shortlistings at the Australian Book Industry Awards and especially thrilled to see @thomasamayo take out three awards including the major prize - Book of the Year. You couldn’t find a more worthy recipient and a more important book. What a great night! 💥
