Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there ā¤ļøā¤ļø This year, I finally get to say that with real understanding and weight behind it 🄹 And yes… this post is late because raising a baby means time has its own meaning now šŸ˜…šŸ˜‚ Becoming a mother has single handedly been the most profound, magical, grounding and beautiful experience of my life. I can’t even begin to explain this feeling. Thank you Sam and Xay for making this not only possible, but truly the best chapter of my life šŸ„¹ā¤ļø And thank you to my mom, who I now understand on an entirely different level. I truly see now how much love, care, sacrifice and energy goes into raising children. Especially raising 4 kids in 5 years šŸ˜…šŸ¤Æ And to Jacqui, my mother in law, who raised Sam and the twins… happy Mother’s Day to you too ā¤ļø To the two powerful women I get to call Mom, and to all the moms out there… You are kind. Compassionate. Strong. Beautiful. And incredible. Happy Mother’s Day ā¤ļø

And today marks 6 weeks /41 days postpartumā¤ļø So we celebrated with a ā€œbig adventureā€. Our @maxicosisa Fame stroller went on its first mission and Xay loved it. < Sam thought slide 5 was funny šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø> He lay there looking out the mesh like a little king… and didn’t peep the entire way šŸ˜‚ Parents will know this is a big milestone šŸ† For the non-parents, this is around the point where you start to feel a little more human again šŸ˜‚ Xay is really coming into being. More alert. More present. And the smiles… 🤭🄹 Nothing prepares you for that. A few lessons so far: • Don’t save baby clothes for special days… they grow too fast šŸ˜‚ • Your food will never be warm again and that’s okay • Sleep matters, an overtired baby is harder to settle • Around 5 weeks, the smiles start and everything changes ā¤ļø • There’s a quiet shared understanding between moms and parents, you just get it • They say breastfeeding makes you skinnier, probably because you don’t have time to eat šŸ˜‚ I’ve heard the first 6 weeks are the hardest… but honestly, this has been one of the most transformative and special seasons of my life 🄰 Moms, what was it like for you? Does it get harder or easier after 6 weeks?

One month as Xay’s Mom 🄹🄳 Where has the time gone 🤯 Watching you grow, learn, and respond to the world around you has been the most special thing. We’ve started adding in little developmental play, and I’m such a sucker for anything that supports brain development ā¤ļø šŸ¤“ So spoilt by @tinylovesa šŸŽø šŸ¦„ The cutest Tiny Rockers toys that support motor skills, senses, cognition, emotions, creativity, and communication through play. šŸ˜

Big mission leaving the house for our first walk. Mom is still healing so taking baby steps 😃 This week we tackled Home Affairs to get his birth certificate… what a mission with a newborn! Because Sam is a foreigner, we couldn’t do it at the hospital and only have 30 days to register him šŸ˜µā€šŸ’« The anxiety of leaving our little bubble and walking through crowds with his tiny immune system was real šŸ˜… but we got there in the end 😊 We weighed him and he’s already 700g up from his birth weight in 3 weeks, which we’re so stoked on 🄹 Sleep is starting to shift too. If we hit that 8pm feed we can usually get a few solid stretches, which feels like a win šŸ˜‚ He definitely runs the show though… miss that window and it’s downhill fast. Mornings are still a bit fussy with digestion, but his eyes are starting to ā€œwake upā€ which is honestly so special 🄹 This week’s missions were way easier with this @ergobaby_sa carrier. I’ve been super particular about what we use for Xay, materials, support, safety, and comfort and this one stood out, especially being chiropractor approved. Things I’ve learnt this week: • Get into bed early and get ahead of feeds šŸ˜‚ • Add 30 minutes to leaving the house… I don’t know how moms make appointments šŸ˜… • Organization goes out the window with a newborn šŸ˜‚ • Proper positioning in carriers matters, that natural ā€œMā€ leg position makes all the difference • And life still throws curveballs… Coco picked up a throat infection this week šŸ˜… •You appreciate your parents even more when you have kids šŸ˜‚ Grateful for the small wins ā¤ļø Now back to our couch. šŸ˜ #ergobabysa #momlife #navigatingmotherhood #4weekbaby

Family Day 🄹 and 3 weeks with our little ā€œMini-Meā€ Thank you so much for all the messages over the past weeks ā¤ļø It’s been a bit of a whirlwind, time doesn’t quite feel the same with night feeds and all these little moments. I can’t believe how quickly these few weeks have flown! It’s still very early days, and Xay is needing my full attention, and honestly, that’s exactly where I want to be ā¤ļø He’s growing every day and feeding really well, which I’m so grateful for. Breastfeeding was a big yes for me, so I’m really happy that journey is going well too. I’m also still healing, so I’ve been resting as much as possible and just taking things slowwwly. I know there are so many replies and updates I still need to get to, but for now I’m just taking this time to be present, to bond, and to gently find our rhythm as we navigate this new little world (and sleep routine šŸ˜…). Loving this time together and naturally spending a bit less time on here for now while I soak it all in. Also… finding a photo of me was harder than expected, I’m basically feeding on demand and topless most of the time these days šŸ˜‚ And Sam has literally had to brush my hair, so that’s where we’re at right now. Motherhood at its truest. šŸ˜… Things I’m learning… • Newborns sing and make the cutest little sounds 🄹 • How important it is to have a partner who can hold you (and baby) when you just need a moment to shower ā¤ļø • You really can function on almost no sleep • I cannot believe how much water and electrolytes I need while breastfeeding. I basically have two 950ml bottles of @get.revive on the go at all times šŸ˜… • You can never have enough clean pyjamas and sheetsšŸ˜‚ • I’ve probably already made up about 20 different nicknames for him 🄹 • Healing takes longer than expected, I’m still very much in my little bubble, only ventured out for my doctor check-ups for now 😊 • ChatGPT is basically my best friend, I don’t know where I’d direct all my questions šŸ˜… • There is such a beautiful community of moms supporting each other šŸ™šŸ½ā¤ļø

RAW, REAL, UNEDITED I thought I was giving birth to him… but in so many ways, we were birthing each other. A journey of trust, surrender, and stepping into something deeper than I ever imagined. Forever changed ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø

Did I lag now! šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ While we’re sitting here all packed and ready for baby, I decided create a game and put @iamsambarton to the FAME test to get him to learn quick, and competitivelyā€¦šŸ˜… Before he’s allowed to take baby out, he had to prove he actually knows how everything works with our Fame Stroller and pass 7 Features. Highly recommend testing your partner before handing over the stroller keys šŸ˜‚ To be honest though, @maxicosisa made it very easy for him. He kept saying how logical and intuitive everything felt. Safe. Smart. Thoughtfully engineered. Now the real question….did he pass? šŸ˜šŸ˜‚ #MaxiCosi #FameTest #FirstTimeParents #DadTraining

The last few weeks with @iamsambarton and our Coco 🐶 nesting and basically cooking up a storm at home šŸ˜‚ Hospital bag round two is now in the mix with all the little things I missed the first time around. Thank you to all the mamas who’ve been sharing advice and helping me get organized! I appreciate you more than you know! ā¤ļø I think we’re ready to GO 😃
