Life update! Two pretty major things have happened this week…
1) the beautiful William and I got married on Saturday and 2) I start rehearsals this week at the Metropolitan Opera for Ainadamar. Both are beyond my wildest dreams and I am emotional and grateful in equal measures. Cannot wait for him to join me in NYC later this week for a mini-working-moon. @beckyweirphotography took our beautiful photography for the wedding - haven’t got her on a show yet but maybe that’s the next step!
So hard to do a proper appreciation post for the extraordinary thing that is Oedipus Rex with Scottish Opera and EIF this year. What a privilege to create with my talents collaborators @orton_design and choreography team Alex and Riki and work with some phenomenal singers and Wendy Seager our wonderful actor. The backstage and production teams achieved more than any of us thought possible within a festival set up. I am so grateful. But honestly, these choruses were the absolute bees knees. They made this show. I will remember this project for a very long time and I am extremely proud of the magical and inclusive space we created. Opera can be made this way and I will continue to advocate for that. Happy final two shows everyone - gutted I can’t be there. 🎭💕👑👁️🌞
Little appreciation post for these absolute beauties. What a stunning tour and joyful show which still made me giggle and cry every night. For some of the children we worked with @operanorthlearning it was their first time in a theatre at all, let alone on a stage performing with these amazing artists at @operanorth . Having the most delightful time with @operanorthlearning and this Wonderland Restored team. 🪷What a dream cast, beautiful company and stellar team all round. I have spent the last 8 months with the very best people and it has been utter vulnerable joy. Studying Dramatherapy has been like meeting a part of myself that was always there but that I couldn’t quite put my finger on. Like you can only see her in a certain kind of light. This practice has brought me closer to myself and the kind of practitioner I want to be. For those of you wondering, yes I’m still a stage director, but getting closer to telling the kinds of stories that feel important to tell, and helping clients tell their stories in safe ways. I’m taking a year out now to continue with some projects already in the diary and will return for my final year of studying for this MSc. I wish this beautiful cohort all the very best 🌳🌲🪘🎭✍️🌻🧡
