After a long process and a lot of learning, we finished this installation and facade work. Of course, it poured rain immediately after the last coat... so we will be going back....😘
This project took over a year to plan and design and 8 months to execute. The sculptural relief depicts the story of Don Rafa and his wife Pura and sits on the building they made their story in. The fabric that cascades down her dress and thought out the entire work symbolizes the fabric of life and time weaving throughout all moments of their story. Two days ago one of our chickens died in my hands. I had raised her for almost 4 years.
Death on the farm is part of the picture, and over these past six years we have gained and lost members of our family. Heart breaking and grounding.
I feel blessed to cherish them while I can.

BIG project for the Don Rafa Hotel in Miramar.
Made from insulation foam, fiberglass, mortar, and cement, finished with @sto_us and paint. Lights are installed behind the forms, and this thing glows at night.
