‘With new eyes’ Monotype and Etching Multi-plate on 300gsm Somerset Velvet 58 x 58cm 2023 This was one of those prints that grow on you.. at first I really didn’t like it, but as I began to look at its intricacies and subtle details it slowly became a piece I quite like, especially after chatting with a few people and getting their understanding of it. What do you see when you look at this? I really enjoyed making this print. ‘To see through my eyes’ Screen Etch Resist & Monoprint 58 x 58cm 2023 Alright, something a little different.. more than likely another conceptual/ aesthetic side project to play with and develop. Messing about with the ideas of Framing and Hiding details. I guess it has some sort of relationship to the aspects of memory and vision that is within my main project. Maybe it’s a sub series to the main series? Haha who knows. TBC.. The best thing about these prints, in my opinion, is that there is actually SO MUCH detail within the black sections that mask the colour and vibrant sections. The idea is to make the viewer really have to LOOK into the darkness to find the beauty. Forcing you to see through my eyes as I walk through the landscape, hunting for intricacies and details that others simply miss due to the distractions of their minds.. ‘Between the Pines’ Screen Etch Resist, Etching & Mono-print 2023 Not one of my biggest prints made during the residency, but I did start to play with the idea of diptychs, composition and colour… I’m fairly happy with this one. This print was one of two that were chosen for the collection at Empreinte. A test print - One of the first prints I made during the residency. Here I was testing how the two texture plates interacted with a mono-print and a screen etch resist plate… this was the initial starting point for me, finding a new aesthetic but following the same conceptual ideas of psycho-geography, landscape and finding the self within. *Appreciation Post* So I’m finally back home after a month in Luxembourg.. not sure where to even begin. What a ride. I know that I have been unbelievably lucky in so many ways… Firstly I just want to thank @annekewalch @mundoliebre & @diane_jodes for all your help and advice during the residency and for also giving me this opportunity to create prints and be free from the world and able to focus whole heartedly on my craft. Thank you so so much. Big love to all at Empreinte! 💜 I also want to thank you @philippelamesch for allowing me to stay at yours for the first two weeks while I got settled and explored Luxembourg in search of inspiration and for also putting my name forward for the residency in the first place - without you I’d never have been able to come! I also want to show gratitude to the higher echelons for allowing me and my godmother Kath to connect not once but twice during my stay in Lux and for the opportunity to enter the Chateaux d’ansembourg to receive some healing! I want to thank Philly for introducing me to @sarah_mandres_art who then introduced me to @chiaradahlem - the both of you are awesome artists, incredibly gifted and generally wonderful people. I’m excited to see what happens in the future 💜 I also want to thank @screenstretch & @squeegee_and_ink for helping to get me 4 amazing silkscreens and squeegee over to Luxembourg - even if it did cost me an arm, leg, kidney and left testicle! It was so worth it - thank you Chessie for dealing with all my phone calls and stressed out texts! 💜 A massive massive heart felt thanks to both Adele and Rudi (they don’t use Instagram) for allowing me to stay at your beautiful home for the second two weeks while I completed the residency and for making me feel like party of your family.
