The idea started simple, go back home and tell my family’s story.
At first, it was going to showcase my small-town Appalachian upbringing, a big family with even bigger faith, and all the wild, beautiful chaos that came with it. But the longer I filmed, the more the story started pointing back at me.
What began as a surface-level portrait became a reckoning. I had to face the parts of myself I’d spent years trying to bury, the faith that shaped me, the silence between generations, and the wounds we don’t talk about.
This project tore me open in ways I didn’t see coming. Peeling back the layers of where I came from, even when it hurt. It’s about brutal honesty, deep pain, and the kind of forgiveness that changes you.
This is ROVA. This is my story. And this is where it begins.
