Kicked off the new year with a trip to the French Alps where I tested out one of the new Ardnish Backpacks. It was an absolute champ, surviving a few good crashes, scrapes against rocks, endless chairlifts and me obliterating a ski!

This purple Dyneema and British leather Big Tote with matching All-Terrain Pack will be part of the drop. More details on the all new Big Tote coming tomorrow.
This morning I put the finishing stitches on this Ardnish backpack that wasn't quite ready in time for yesterday's backpack drop. It's now available on the website, ready to join someone on their adventures.Â
The backpack is made from a blend of 5oz Dyneema, Dyneema Gridstop and 1000d Cordura. It features an all new front loading panel that allows for easy packing and access to gear when you're out in the wild. It also features a side entry laptop sleeve which has become a fan favourite feature. Finished as always with a range of high end hardware and YKK aquaguard zips.
Our first drop of 2026 is now live on the website, all the packs are made and ready to ship! This marks the start of a new format for Route Unknown focusing on more regular drops for you to get outdoors with.

Launching Tuesday 31st March at 1pm UK time. On our website you will find a whole range of different Ardnish backpacks and matching All-Terrain packs. Each one was handmade here in the Route Unknown Studio, designed to accompany you on every adventure
Our first drop of 2026 will feature this Ardnish 30L backpack and matching 3L All-Terrain Pack made from extremely strong X-Pack UVX40. Available 31st March 1pm UK time.
We are going to be moving towards creating more regular drops, the aim being to provide limited amounts of packs made and ready for dispatch once a month as soon as the drops go live. This is going to mean we have to slow down on custom orders but allows a more consistent offering for our customers.
I got a very exciting package in the post the other day; something that has been in the works for awhile and I’m really stoked to be getting out in the hills to use this incredible backpack made by @route__unknown .
This pack is one of a kind, hand made by James at @route__unknown and I was almost speechless at how well made this pack is. There’s a bunch of info about this pack that’ll I’ll go through soon but for now, really looking forward to testing out all its features over the course of the year and bringing you along for the ride.

Our Final November Drop is now live on the website! It features this ultralight UX10 experimental backpack that I would absolutely love to see getting used in snowy mountain conditions.Â
This pack is made from a blend of ultralight and durable materials being Xpac UX10, Ultra 100x and ultra 400x, coming in at a weight of 840 grams without the back panel stiffening insert and 1kg with the back insert. It's absolutely packed full of details but I will let you scroll through the photos to see them for yourself.
