Mental Health in the Arts - Free Panel and Q&A this Saturday at Fringe! What does it really mean to make art and stay well? Join a free, open conversation with working artists as they speak honestly about mental health, creativity, burnout, resilience and care. Moderated by the South Australian Mental Health Commissioner, this panel and Q&A explores how artists manage the pressures of creative work, why the arts matter to mental wellbeing, and how making and sharing art can be a source of connection, purpose and healing. Whether you’re an artist, arts worker, or simply curious, this is a chance to listen, reflect, and ask questions in a supportive, welcoming space. Sat, 28 Feb 4.00pm (60 minutes) Ukiyo at Gluttony - Rymill Park This panel is free but you can grab a ticket from adelaidefringe.com.au if you want to guarantee a spot, or just come on down to the Ukiyo. This discussion features artists from Primal, Rouge and from other events in Fringe. Support to make this event possible from the Adelaide Fringe Foundation, not only to facilitate this conversation but also for a host of audience access resources!

Missing Rouge this Fringe? Check out a brilliant show by ex-Rouge singer @cirquesongstress - Wonderfully Terrible Things is sexy, sassy and funny. With original music by Christine herself, singing, playing keys, sharing stories and being sassy as hell, accompanied by a team of sexy and talented friends. It’s a fun night out if you like your shows risque and edgy (and you loved Rouge so we know you do!). Wonderfully Terrible Things plays at Gluttony in The Octagon from 19th Feb - 8th Mar at 9.15pm (7.50pm on preview night 19th Feb)

Celebration Day #25 Accidental Opera I never intended to sing opera 🫢 But in the 90’s, when I was finishing school, none of my teachers knew about WAAPA or could suggest any other musical theatre or modern music schools (actually they told me that performing wasn’t a job and that I had to get a real degree 😬). My dream was to go to NIDA (did you know that? I never was meant to be a singer it was an accident 🫢). So I thought I’d audition for the @elderconservatorium and oops…I got in 🥰 I thought I’d bide my time there until I got into NIDA 🤣 (so naïve) or went to London to study MT (happened after because I was having such a good time at the Con that I wanted to finish 🥳). It was THE BEST mistake that could have ever happened. My classical training from the incomparable @rosalindmmartin was life changing and has shaped my vocal performances to this day. I always see it as an accidental blessing, a shift of fate that set me up vocally for life. I didn’t remain in the opera world long (I wasn’t a “legit” opera singer) But I did come back to it later (the voice matures and settles into classical singing so as I got older it became easier). And I now LOVE singing classically soooo much!! And had some extra training while in Melbourne by the incredible @heatherbrooksfletcher ❤️ So here is my celebration of all things opera. There a so many shows that I’ve done of which I can’t find any digital images…they were too long ago! But here are a few highlights. All bookended with my silly opera performance in @rougetheshow featuring @jessierootbeer and @seth.is.here 😘. Dear opera elitists…please don’t take this seriously or listen to the line, quality, tone, vowel shapes of the song…it is meant to be comedy…watch to the end 🫢 Warning…this may not be for kids 🫢or maybe they won’t understand 🤷🏻‍♀️ Enjoy ☺️ #opéra #romeoandjuliet #romeoandjulietopera
