Occasionally a single night will renew your faith in humanity and the arts and that night happened to be last Thursday’s launch event for the boy poet luminary @josephpageforweb 🖤 Naturally it couldn’t have happened without my right hand @danielt_ob , the frictionless @the_parkside_lounge_nyc , the realest MF Kipp on sound, and of course the truly brilliant readers on the lineup @tardigrade_inc @garrettstanfordphelps @megsuperstarprincess @clrajoy and the beauty in this photo, @cynthiabgirlnyc . We were also sonically blessed by @redfadoli and @savattte , key players in keeping the energy alive. To everyone who came out and listened, danced, boozed, said hey, shot pool, shot the shit, etc THANK YOU. Sorry for getting saccharine on main but it meant a lot a lot. Thanks also to @mweinbergerr for rolling thru and taking these pics. More pics of the readers and performers incoming from the towering eye that is @manabovetown . Cheeeers to the real ones. Xx

THOUGHT ROT presents Adam Abdalla (@adamabdallday ), president of @culturalcounsel and “art/wrestling kingpin” founder of @gametimesessions , @producewrestling , and Orange Crush: The Journal of Art and Wrestling (@orangecrushart ). Over several hours, between NYC’s favored Chinatown watering holes @whiskeytavern and @therivernewyork , Abdalla and I discussed his nuclear come-up in the world of PR, the value of lateral thinking in art and business, how Cultural Counsel was partly borne out of spite, and the gorgeous audacity of doing shit yourself. THOUGHT ROT presents @emilycolucci of @ourfilthydreams for the first installment of “Minds Behind the Media” 🖤 When I started planning this series, I knew Emily would be one of my first subjects. Emily is the co-founder of Filthy Dreams, a blog that “analyzes art, culture and politics with a touch of camp.” Filthy Dreams, as Emily will explain, was originally conceived as “a boozy confetti-filled New York nightclub with the same acts appearing again and again to rousing applause,” dreamed up alongside co-founder Matthew Marion Gray, a.k.a. @matthewannis010 . If you’re familiar with Emily’s writing on any level, this will make sense to you, as this campy, confetti-littered spirit is embedded in her signature style. In this first installment, we chop it up about NYC nightlife, politics in the art world, and the enduring relevance of camp. Location of choice: International Bar in NYC’s East Village. Drink of choice: Hazy IPAs. Full interview at verapr.substack.com. All photos by @alischade xx

In preparation for the launch of my interview series, I drew up some basic ground rules to minimize posturing and preening (on both sides, yall). Zoom’s a non-starter. Read on for my Virtual Vow of Chastity… plus more on substack, wherein I outline how I got my unlikely start as an arts & culture journo (shouts to @lisadragon13 @brokeassstuart @vale_research ) xx

THOUGHT ROT returns November ‘25. THOUGHT ROT 3.0 will showcase people who work in the shadows of media production, an industry d/evolving ever quicker by cultural demand. It will also showcase people who work in the shadows of the great American experiment: barflies, beauticians, gas station attendants, phone sex operators, underground artists, and the like. Citizens of a glittering empire in glaring decline. In short, THOUGHT ROT 3.0 will showcase both the minds behind the media and the minds behind the masses. Ideally, it will reveal where they intersect and where they diverge. Ideally, it will reveal both thought and rot. Subscribe on @substack if you want to learn/lurk: xx
