One of the very rare bits of my operatic diary that survived the covid lockdown in 2020. After months of doing nothing, it was such a treat to be able to get back to performing for this movie version of 'Owen Wingrave' which we made with Grange Park Opera in some stunning locations with an all-star British cast. Kate is a role I’ve done several times and is so fun to play. A she’s complex and flawed, and has some great dramatic scenes. This is my favourite moment in the piece, where Owen (a pacifist and conscientious objector) and Kate reminisce about their youth, which descends into a painful confrontation in which she berates him for what she sees as his cowardice @Grangeparkopera , 2020. Owen Wingrave by Benjamin Britten Cast: Owen Wingrave: @RossRamgobin Miss Wingrave (Aunt): Susan Bullock Kate Julian: Kitty Whately Sir Philip Wingrave: Richard Berkeley-Steele Mr. Coyle: William Dazeley Mrs. Coyle: Janis Kelly Lechmere: James Way Mrs. Julian: Madeleine Pierard Boy Bugler: Chloe Morgan Production Team: Director: Stephen Medcalf Conductor: James Henshaw Video Production: Fintan O'Connor

The late Sir John Tavener’s Krishna receives its world premiere at Grange Park Opera (@grangeparkopera ) in Surrey. Blending music, dance and spiritual storytelling, this new production brings the story of Krishna to the operatic stage on a truly grand scale. Known for his deeply meditative compositions, Tavener’s final opera draws on themes of devotion, divinity and transcendence. If you’re interested in opera in London or looking to experience South Asian stories on a Western classical stage, this is a rare and fascinating one to catch. 📍 Grange Park Opera, Surrey 📅 4 Jun to 2 Jul 2026 🎟️ Link in bio Follow @alive.london for more curated South Asian arts and culture in London. #alivelondon #thingstodoinlondon #southasianopera

“You don’t get many opera singers that look like me” is one of the first things that @rossramgobin said to me when I chatted to him on my BBC radio show the other night. We also spoke about his love of UK garage! Ross is an accomplished British Operatic Baritone and is one of the leads in brand new opera ‘The Taj Mahal’ which has its world premiere at @grangeparkopera this July. It brings to life the story behind the iconic world famous monument and is a tale of passion, rivalry and murder, all woven together with music from Composer and virtuoso sitar-player Nishat Khan. Listen back to the full conversation on @bbcsounds just search for Rena Annobil on Monday 2nd May and check out @grangeparkopera for details of ‘The Taj Mahal’ opera. #operasinger #thetajmahalopera #thetajmahal #opera #grangeparkopera

This is my first experience participating in an opera buffa, and here’s what I noticed: The connection with partners is very important in the comedic genre, as much arises from improvisation. Our team was very fortunate in this regard! Even knowing the literal translation, not all jokes that rely on wordplay can be understood if you’re not a native speaker. Fabio @fabiocapitanucci_baritone helped us with this by explaining the entire context♥️ When everyone is on the same wavelength, even if the musical material is very complex, you enjoy playing on stage. This is very important not only in comic operas but especially so, in my opinion, because you need to convey this positive energy to the audience! Thanks to my incredible and talented cast аnd toi toi toi to all of us!😍♥️ Conductor - Olivia Clarke @oliviafitzgeraldclarke Director - Mariame Clément Zaida - Grace Durham @grace.durham.mezzo Albazar - Rhys Batt @rhysbatt Prosdocimo - Ross Ramgobin @rossramgobin Don Geronio - Fabio Capitanucci @fabiocapitanucci_baritone Donna Fiorilla - Inna Demenkova (This is me 😂💅🏻) @inna.demenkova Selim - Michael Mofidian @michaelmofidian Don Narciso - Agustín Gómez @agustingomeztenor Girlfriend - Anna-Marie Sullivan @annamarie_actress Это мой первый опыт участия в опере-буффа и вот что я заметила: Очень важен коннект с партнерами в комедийном жанре, ведь многое рождается из импровизации.

A photo dump of this autumn's wonderful revival of 'Il turco in Italia' by Rossini @glyndebourne . A privilege to perform here. Poeta is a showcase role in this production: I'd like to say a big thank you to everyone on and off-stage for their encouragement and warmth. One special thank you though to the talented @annamarie_actress . We clicked instantly and has been a rock throughout! ❤️
