Heyo! I just got back from a gorgeous trip to Norway! It was an amazing experience and I even got a photograph or two. While I work on putting those together here is a backlog shot that I never shared from a trip down the Oregon coast last year. I was never all too happy with it as it was an abnormally hazy day and I also feel like I needed another 30 seconds or so to smooth out the water more. Either way, it's an absolutely gorgeous stretch of coastline and the color was pretty nice this morning. Have a great Sunday!

On exceptionally wet weeks Wahclella Falls turns from a waterfall I don't have much interest in photographing into an incredible view of PNW beauty. This is a scene that I think does a great job capturing several elements of a fun PNW Spring outing. Lush greens, multiple gorgeous sections of falling water and that classic misty/foggy atmosphere I've grown up with on rainy days. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Post processing videos available now!! I’m back from my road trip and here’s the first image I was able to put together. One of my friends told me about this waterfall a couple years ago and I’ve been wanting to check it out ever since. It didn’t disappoint with this Spring's high water flow and fresh new greens. It was a bit tricky to photograph at first as I started down lower by the falls where the angles and vegetation just weren’t really working for me. Then I saw these little ferns on this higher up viewpoint and it all came together. It had been a really long time since I’d photographed a waterfall and it brought back a lot of fond memories! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Post processing videos available now!! Gonna be adding some more green to the portfolio soon! Heading out this week to find some waterfalls and potentially end up as far south as the Redwoods. There aren't really any plans set and we're just gonna hit the road and see where we end up! Fingers crossed for some nice light. Have a great week everyone!

I'm looking forward to getting out there and chasing some waterfalls once again. This is one of the oldest images in my portfolio. It's a shot of Sunwapta Falls up in Jasper National Park. I took an extremely long exposure before sunrise to get the streaking cloud motion. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Post processing videos available now!! Wow! It's hard to believe it's already Mt St Helen's day again! On this date 42 years ago, Mt St Helens blew her top. Ash shot up 80,000 feet into the air. That’s over 15 miles into the air! Lava and blasted rock destroyed just about everything within a 20 mile radius. By the time the eruption ended, 57 people were killed and over $1 billion in damage was done to the landscape around the volcano. Up to 10 inches of ash fell on nearby cities and flecks reached areas as far away as Minnesota and New Mexico! Before the blast, Helens was the fifth highest peak in Washington state. After blowing, her status dropped to 30th highest peak. It would be interesting to see how different photos of Mt St Helens would be today if that explosion had never happened. There would be no Johnston Ridge, full of wildflowers every year and one of the easiest places to shoot. My guess is Spirit Lake would probably be the “iconic” shot of the peak as it used to be a great reflection spot. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Post processing videos available now!! I haven’t been able to take many new photos lately, so I’ve decided to start sharing some more older work until I am able to get out for a nice big trip again here in the next few months. Here is a smokey sunset up at Rainier during those few gorgeous weeks during summer when the entire area is full of wildflowers. Hopefully we get a nice bloom this year and maybe a bit less smoke! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Post processing videos available now!! Welcome to the gray collection. During my trip to the Canadian Rockies there was no shortage of stormy weather. The first few days absolutely poured non stop. While I spent most of the time wishing it was nicer out, I also tried to make the most of the current conditions and came away with a few non terrible shots. Here is a collection of a few of those that I didn’t hate

Hello everyone! It’s been quite a while! I haven’t been able to get out shooting much and I needed a bit of a break from post processing and social media for my creative side to get motivated again. I felt like post processing for the first time a while a few days ago and finished up a few images from my trip up to the Canadian Rockies last fall. It’s also the first vertical photo I have edited in almost a year. Here is one from a gorgeous morning in Mt Assiniboine Provincial Park. One of the greatest views I have ever seen and I hope to return one day. I would love to see it during winter. Speaking of winter...2022 marks another year that I won’t be visiting Banff during the snowy season. What was once a yearly tradition has now been missing for two years.  ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Post processing videos available now!! Plans have changed and with this storm rolling in we’ve decided against chasing fall colors this week. As I mentioned in my previous post, I always have the worst timing when it comes to lower elevation fall colors in the PNW. This marks something like my fourth year in a row that I haven’t really gotten any good fall colors besides up in the mountains. Speaking of the mountains though, here is a new shot from my trip to the Enchantments...where it was also incredibly windy. I noticed these branches as we were waiting for the light to hit this lone larch and figured they would frame it up well. It was lucky I noticed them on that first day of our trip as there were no needles left on those branches by the time we were hiking out! The second image is a version of the same tree I shot several years ago on my first trip into the Enchantments when we had a nice blanket of snow! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Post processing videos available now!! Gonna head out and chase some fall colors tomorrow. I’ve always had really bad luck with fall colors at lower elevations. I pretty much always time my trips around massive storms that bring too much water and blow all the leaves away. Was feeling pretty good about this trip and what do you know, there is a nice wind storm forecasted to hit the PNW soon. Still going to head out and see what I can find! Hope everyone has a great weekend! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Post processing videos available now!! Visit link in bio for more info
