Not only did you communicate well and give us safe passage up to Merry Go Round Rock (for those of you who dont know, it's extremely beautiful but a bit of a treacherous ride up haha) but you were gracious enough to reschedule after the cancelation of our flight in March. Guess who 👀?
Us by the ever so talented @rosesandreeds over the summer at the Santa Barbara Courthouse! It was so fun jumping in front of the camera with my lover boy✨
ps. To all my fellow brides who I make romp around the entire property in heels, I finally got my karma💀.
You won’t believe the number of nightmares I had before wedding.
In some of them, we were in the wrong venue. In others, I was walking down the aisle with bed head and a tragic DIY bun. I spilled everything during the food tasting and never got another bite. And somehow, red roses were hanging on strings at the reception. 😵💫
1. It was a destination wedding. 2. Labor in the States is not cheap. 1 person there equals 10 people here. 3. I’m used to being the one who plans and executes, so letting go, even a little, was hard.
I knew exactly what I wanted. The Chapel. Organic, architectural, sculptural. Contrast. Form. Subtle drama. No roses, lace, sparkles. Just the right amount of weird.
I did the layout on CAD, modeled it on SketchUp, rendered it myself. We sourced and brought fabric from here to there, drew our invites, and painted my own face! How to trust??
Good thing we'd already met Natalie the year before when she shot our prenup, and we loved how natural her work felt. That was one thing I didn’t have to worry about.
After meeting a few coordinators, we went with our gut and chose the very first ones we spoke to, Lauren and Kim. Later we found out Lauren and I share the same birthday. Rowee and her husband share the same too. It felt like kismet. They were wonderful to work with!
For food, we also chose the first chef we met, Eden. Custom menu, American-sized servings, the best elotes and pumpkin soup! 😋 We actually ate at our own wedding and I had so much dessert!
And Jordan. I hunted him down after losing touch when he was still working with someone else. I’ve never felt more aligned with a florist, stylist, artist, visionary. We gushed over melted silver fabric, mirrors and chrome against the red rocks, aluminum alien stones. He made all the vases by hand the night before! Sculptural flowers, no round bouquets, gray purples of course. Even the boutonnieres had dumbbell pendants. I cry 🥹
It wasn’t perfect. At some point, city ordinance made us stop the music at 9. Imagine. No music. 🙈 Only Ting, for entertainment 🤣
But it was ours. And despite all the fears my brain rehearsed for months, everything that truly mattered aligned that day. 🌕
