Rose Road has existed now for almost 75 years to create more opportunities for disabled children and young people to play, belong and thrive. Our respite care services, activities, therapies and the exciting new experiences we plan, are all designed to promote wellbeing, positive participation, achievement, and joy, every single day. Promising fun, independence, friendship and trust, we are led by each young person to meet their individual medical, personal and communication needs, and we support the whole family to rest, advocate and build resilience. Despite mobility differences, it doesnt stop us safely pushing boundaries to help our young people experience the fun of bouncing and movement at activity centres like @flipoutsouthampton . Come along to @haskinsgardencentres West End to support Rose Road. Tomorrow, volunteers are running a bucket collection, but if you're popping in on another day, they also have the Wishing Well for loose change, or their Pennies at the Till scheme where you can donate 25p on top of your purchase. So whether you're getting your garden ready for summer, or just enjoying their delicious cakes, there are lots of ways to support Rose Road with your visit and we are so grateful to them for making us their official charity partner. From train pals to beach buddies, despite some social anxiety, G has been making fantastic progress with her friendships and independence recently. Her support worker Gemma said: "Even though there was a language barrier, G has been absolutely amazing with a new starter. She'd encourage her to try new things and give her high 5's, hold hands, and put her arms around her. She has been making her feel really welcome and part of the family - Well done G!" She also went with another friend on the train and to the beach, walking holding hands and having fun! And she showed so much confidence when she gave out a Rose Road collection box to a local business while on her travels. Who we are Rose Road is a charity that provides a range of care services, including overnight short breaks, onsite and offsite outreach and day services, and telephone SEN advice services, for children and young people with complex disabilities and their families, across Southampton and surrounding areas. We fundraise to enrich our services, to offer a wide choice of activities that build resilience and meet individual need, no matter how complex, to give disabled young people the very best experience with us and opportunity to thrive and achieve their aspirations. Giving it a great "tri" 🏃‍♀️🚴🏊 A huge thanks and congrats to Wendy and her family who completed a triathlon last weekend for Rose Road and raised an incredible £1,525! Wendy said, "Over the years the children have taught me so much and it's clear to see that there shouldn't be any barriers to what they wish to achieve. Rose Road and the staff team enable these wishes to become a reality, so my family and I took on this challenge to support this".
