Kim Stegeman built something Portland didn’t know it needed. More than two decades later, it’s clear she built something the community can’t imagine being without.
Rose City Rollers has become a nationally recognized nonprofit serving more than 400 skaters, including over 120 girls and non-binary youth, with participants ranging in age from 7 to 60.
RCR exists to help women, girls, and gender-expansive individuals realize their power—on skates and off. It is one of the few athletic spaces in the country where inclusion isn’t just a policy, but a lived culture—welcoming queer, trans, and non-binary athletes and fostering a community where people find belonging, confidence, and connection.
We’re proud to honor Kim with the 2026 Sport Oregon Foundation Community Impact Award.
