the nightstand is a vulnerable place — it is a place for both your most prized possessions and the daily contents of your pockets. through this concept, I wanted to show that a piece of fine jewelry like the Felicity Pendant can follow you for your whole life, fitting in with every version of you ⭐️
this project has consumed my thoughts for months — after the week we spent shooting this, it felt a little sad to stop living in the world of this imaginary girl whose life we had built. she felt so real — a girl who becomes a teenager and then a woman, the process of which we see through the mundane.

my last portrait shoot of the year with @patriciahotya was an instant favorite 💚 I built this look around the observatory's color palette and this pearl necktie I bought from @hannahruthzander ages ago — I paired it with this patterned jacket and lily of the valley accessories and the sun did the rest 💫
next year, I'm hoping to dive hard into some ambitious ideas that I've been lacking the confidence to follow through on — they're weird but our time here is fleeting, so fuck it 🧚🏻 more videos, more scanning, more presence, more collages, more collabs, more classes, more everything!!!

nothing beats waking up early for the sole purpose of running through the cherry blossoms and playing dress-up with your friend!! putting together a shoot with only a tiny bit of pre-production time means I have to lean more on my instincts — this morning with @kiararosetalley felt like tapping into a more playful kind of art creation that gets a little lost sometimes, at least for me, but it's a comfort to know there are ways to get it back, and it works both ways — your creativity is a connection to your intuition 💘

the goose was not a paid actor
breathing, releasing, surging — lapping waves at one of my childhood beaches during my last visit home, taken on my half frame camera with @kodak #portra400. I used to visit this spot with my grandmother, walking from her home under a tunnel of cooling trees, emerging in the sunlight to the sound of pebbled sand rolling around the shore. twenty years later, I still feel her when my feet touch this sacred ground as I sink into it to take these photos, remembering the way she encouraged me to see the world in a softer way 💙

I have one true Big Goal I'd like to accomplish this year and I'll be dedicating next month to it — I'm honestly too anxious to say it officially lol so we'll see where we're at in March!!!
cretaceous-era agatized ammonite — my 30th birthday present from my husband, and the most incredible gift I've ever received. it's almost 8 inches long and about 100 million years old, which is an order of magnitude that makes me swoon just thinking about it. the idea that some little guy made this his home, became fossilized, crystallized, and is now in my hands feels like an immense honor. he told me it was because "you're just the kind of person who would have fossils" — to be loved is to be seen ♥️

the longest of my poem films yet — this was a very special collaboration between my husband and I for one of his favorite poems. over the last two months we've been working through this piece, spending countless hours driving around Sauvie Island and learning how to collaborate on something we both feel strong creative feelings about ♥️♥️ I am so proud of what we made — I hope you can find some peace in it as the seasons continue to change 🍂

junk journal tour!!! this feels like letting someone read my diary but I've been thinking about making this video for a while, and a few weeks ago I finally set aside an afternoon to shoot it on my new downshooter rig📓 I've only used maybe a quarter of the pages in this little book and the elastic is already fighting for its life 🫣 this has been a wonderful low-pressure way to get back into the creative process and has given me a greater appreciation for all the *good* design that's all around us!! ✂️

my endless thanks to @toughtenderphoto for this photo with my favorite girls (Dolly and Poppy) in my favorite corner of our home, captured for our Vivid Memories film show earlier this year ♥️ I've gone through a lot of changes in the last year, expanding my skillset and redefining my own identity as an artist beyond photography alone. in the last year I have been a photographer, curator, animator, stylist, director, producer, graphic designer, event planner, editor, vending machine owner, and obsessive scanner. (available for all of the above 💌) something in my creativity has cracked open, and with each new idea I have a few different ways to approach and honor that idea. I have so many one-off experiments/studies/projects I'm working through, and none of them look the same — the algo hates to see variety, and I'm okay with that ♥️
