Want to share short moments of a piece Iāve made recently in collaboration with incredible people and to tell a bit about the work
āWHEN WE BECAME BRAIDEDā
For me, it feels like more than just a dance duet between two girls.
It is something that speaks inside of me ā and inside many other women, especially women in Ukraine nowadays.
It is about a pure but meaningful, honest, and precious connection you can have with another person, while not being romantically tied to them. In my case, it is about the relationship between two women.
I experienced this kind of connection myself. At a moment when I really needed it, I started meeting people who made me feel safe and cared for ā who nourished me with light and inner peace, but at the same time gave me space for madness, tears, and vulnerability, which we sometimes donāt allow ourselves to feel.
When I saw Aurora and Charlotte during rehearsals, I felt they were the ones who could truly make this idea real, not fake it
During our very first rehearsal, I gave them space and time to connect with each other and to create one body out of two, even though they had never improvised or danced together like that before. I asked them to feel what they needed from each other, what they could give, and what kind of relationship could exist at that specific moment.
They stayed in this process for almost an hour
When they stopped, we were all crying, because something precious had opened. Something deeper was touched. They allowed something honest to happen in that moment.
That is what I am most proud of, not only the beautiful choreography that came out in the end, but the honesty of this duet
Greatest thank you to
@charlottecrouin and
@rorauroraa for your trust and for making this real š¤š«
