«سه مجموعه تصویر ارائهشده در پروندههای راکد، با کمک فرایندی به ثبت رسیدهاند که در آن ترکیببرندی و تنظیمات دوربین زمانبر است. از طرف دیگر، ثبت تصاویر نیز (به خصوص در مجموعهی سوم) به یک بازهی زمانی چند دقیقهای نیاز دارد. به این ترتیب، اغلب موضوعات این تصاویر بسیار ساکن هستند. دلیل استفاده از چنین فرایندی، دستیابی به تصویر کمتر دیدهشده از موضوعات روزمره است؛ تصویری که به واسطهی استفاده از تکنیکهای نامتعارف و تا حدی ناآشنا به نظر میرسند. همنشینی این تصاویر نه به واسطهی مضمون یا ویٓگیهای صوری مشترک، که به واسطهی در اختیار قرار دادن تصویری غریب میسر شده است.»

“The three photo-series represented in “still folders” have been captured through a process involving time-intensive compositions and camera settings. Moreover, long exposure of several minutes are required to capture the photographs, especially those in the third series. In this respect, most subjects in these images are notably motionless. The reason for employing such a process is to attain a less commonly seen image of everyday subjects; an image that, due to the use of unconventional techniques, appears somewhat unfamiliar. The coexistence of these photographs is not attributed to shared themes or mutual visual characteristics, but rather to the presentations of unusual images.”

اتاق تاریک یا جعبهی سیاه با این پرسش آغاز میشود که «وقتی به عکاسی فکر میکنیم به چه فکر میکنیم؟». این زین با آشکارسازی جنبههای مختلف تکنیکی، مفهومی و نهادی عکاسی، میکوشد مجموعههایی را پدید آورد که صرفاً به دنبال بازنمایی جهان بیرون یا بازنمود تصویری یک ایده نباشند.
این پروژه از دو مجموعهی مستقل تشکیل شده است:«چند کپی از هیروشیگ» که به یکی از نخستین کاربردهای عکاسی در هنر، یعنی کپیبرداری از آثار هنری برجسته، میپردازد و در کنار اشاره به محدودیتهای تکنیکی این حوزه، یک بازی شباهتیابی با آثار هنرمند نامدار ژاپنی را دنبال میکند؛ و مجموعهی دوم، «دو تجربه از آراگو» که بر پایهی دو تجربهی نورشناختی آراگو بنا شده و در آن هم مسئلهی مفهومی «کارآمدی راهکار از ایده تا اجرا» و هم بُعد نهادی «اقامتهای هنری» مورد توجه قرار میگیرد.

“The Darkroom or Black Box” is shaped around a central inquiry: What do we think of when we think of photography? By unveiling photography’s technical, conceptual, and institutional dimensions, the book seeks to generate bodies of work that move beyond simply representing the external world or offering a visual rendition of an idea.
The photo-zine brings together two distinct photographic series. “A Few Copies of Hiroshige” reflects on one of photography’s earliest functions in art—the reproduction of canonical works. Beyond acknowledging the technical shortcomings of this practice, the series engages in a play of resemblance with the works of the renowned Japanese artist Hiroshige. “Two Experiments of Arago”, drawing on François Arago’s optical experiments, brings into dialogue the conceptual question of how effectively an idea translates into execution with the institutional framework of artist residencies.
