Drying out fields, pulling moisture faster than we can keep up, and turning a tough season into a tricky one. And still, we farm. 🌾Some BIG little farm news…🚨 Our own Farmer Todd was named 2026 LEADER IN AGRICULTURE by the Denver Business Journal!👨‍🌾 If you know Todd, you know he’d be the first to shrug this off and point to the farm team + Root Shoot crew, and the brewers and distillers we’re lucky to work with. But the truth is, a lot of what Root Shoot has become started with Todd’s stubborn belief that better farming leads to better beer and whiskey. A fifth-generation farmer who decided growing barley wasn’t enough… so he built a malthouse too. Since then, 10 years later, he’s spent a lot of time talking about soil health, regenerative farming, and keeping Colorado agriculture viable... sometimes to anyone who will listen. Alllllllllllllll aboard the Root Shoot Express! 🚃💨 🚐✨ Our Root Shoot Express hit the road again, picking up the crews from @omfbrewing and @zunistreetbrewing hauling them up to the farm for the full Root Shoot experience. @adamthebrewerrr was behind the wheel, naturally. 🛞 Account manager by trade. Shuttle captain by destiny. 💪 The day included: 🌾 Field stops 🏭 Malthouse tour 🥪 Lunch 🤝 General shenanigans Somewhere between Denver and the barley fields, the bus filled up with beer talk, bad jokes, farm views, and the kind of conversations that only happen when you get brewery folks out of the city and into the barley fields. 🌾🍻 Big thanks to the OMF and Zuni crews for making the trip with us. Hard no. ☹️ Do we have water this year? Let’s just say “conservative optimism” feels generous.💦 But the ditches still need pulling. The ground still needs tending. And Todd? He’s playing in the water like it’s the best job in the world. 🏊‍♂️ Some years you farm the crop… and some years you just farm the chance to try again. 🎉Happy #ToddTalk Tuesday! #EarthDay is every day here at the farm, and to celebrate our planet we planted [super duper uber duper] Kernza! 🌱🌏 Yes, that Kernza. Have you heard of it? 😉🫣 Deep roots, holds soil in place, finds water. We’re drilling into permanent pasture, which is farmer-speak for: cow chow. 🐮 🌾In the mix is Sainfoin, Plantain (not the banana, don’t get excited) and Chicory. 🎉🏆Big shoutout to our friends @ldpbeer and @losdospotrillosmexrest for bringing home a win at World Beer Cup! 🍻 🥉Their Agua Fresca beer (prickly pear, key lime, crisp as hell Mexican lager) got the team their first ever WBC award, and yeah… we’re not surprised. 💪 From Collabfests to sweating through Field Days and packing folks onto the Root Shoot Express for malthouse tours… somehow it usually ends with that chili relleno plate and a couple more beers than planned (maybe an @underberg too!). 🫣😉 The Agua Fresca was brewed with 100% Root Shoot! Pilsner, Light Munich, and Malted Corn in the award-winner. 🍻 🤝Customers for almost four years. Friends for a whole lot longer. 🫶 😘Couldn’t happen to better people. 🌯Go get yourself one, and don't sleep on the chili relleno plate.

🌏Earth Day’s not a one-day thing around here. It's kind of our whole thing. So yeah... we're a day late. 🫣 Most days look like this... Farmer Todd on a tractor, a questionable country song in the background, and a whole lot of unglamorous work. 🚜😁 But every now and then, our soil flexes a little 💪… like this week. BIG wins at World Beer Cup, HUGE wins at American Craft Spirits Competition, and MIND-BLOWING wins at London Spirits Competition (for our homegrown whiskey!). Same farm. Slightly more awards than usual. A happy happy #EarthDay (every day) friends. We're celebrating! 🌱🚜 Competition results dropping soon... stay tuned! 🥇🥇

Happy #ToddTalk Tuesday! 🎉 This #EarthWeek, Farmer Todd takes us out to the test plots where science meets… whatever that questionable rain dance was. 😅🕺🌧 We’ve got 5 plots, 8 acres each, all running side-by-side trials with different approaches from AEA, @elevate_ag and worm tea! 🪱🫖 🌾Same field. Same barley. Different inputs. Because if we’re going to keep pushing quality (and farming in a way that actually works long-term), we’ve got to test it, not just talk about it. 💪 Follow along with Farmer Todd over the coming weeks as he sees what’s working, what’s… still thinking about working, and how these inputs might impact soil health, yield, and ultimately the malt in your glass. 🍻🥃 We won’t say his raindance worked. 🌏Happy Earth Week, friends! We've been busy on the farm! 🪺We stumbled upon a nest with 4 eggs right smack dab in the middle of our barley field! Cool! 💦We briefly turned on a couple pivots to give our barley a sip of water. Keep doing your rain dance! 🕺🌧 🌾We wandered our winter barley fields, and it's been a tough showing so far. They look, well... $hit+y... at best. Honest farming means saying that out loud. 👎 But not all of it is a grind (I mean, who doesn't love riding around on 4-wheelers?). 🤠 🐮We’ve got a new baby calf on the ground, stepping in as Billy the Wagyu Bull slows down for his retirement. 🎉 🐾Thompson the coonhound is fully in his element, completely unbothered by crop conditions. We’ll share more #EarthWeek photos as the week goes on! The good, the bad, and the in-between especially in a year like this. It’s not always pretty, but it’s real, and we’re still here, still growing, and still betting on what’s next! We also know craft beer helps 😁🍻
